So I found this little odd gem at goodwill today.
It's a variation on the old spinning fish catch games, but this time some ingenious marketing guru decided to make it monsters.
It uses all the same molds as the fishing version, they just added stickers that make them look like monsters.
They also changed the "water" to red.
Combining that fact w/ the little image of a blood dripping monster head on the front of the box, it seems we're fishing for monsters in a lake of blood. The sign seems to imply this all takes place in a cemetery...

Got lucky this morning and found these at a flea market: Two boxes of two Mego Waltons, a Six Million Dollar Man in a rough box missing the top flap and the girder (anyone have one for sale?), a Cher never removed from a torn box, and an open carded Muhammad Ali. Also found a loose Human Torch wearing Thor's boots, Mr. Fantastic's gloves and a white vinyl AJ belt (I think)... it was in a bag labeled "It is what it is."

Nice haul. Now you can complete your Euell Gibbons Grapenuts diorama. I picked-up a bunch of Cher stuff about two months ago that I need to sort through.Leave a comment:

I don't have pics taken of it yet (and needs cleaning!), but today some dude posted a whole bunch of vintage Barbie stuff on Craig's List for $5 total.
The pics showed a 1962 fold-out Dream House, a black corvette, and bags of accessories. So I was like sure, even if I can't sell the house and acc, it'd be great for photo ops. And the vett can always sell (or be used by meeeee).
Well, guess what? Turns out the black vett isn't Barbie at all, but a 1975 Big Jim Wolf P.A.C.K. corvette!! Still has stearing wheel, windshield, and some stickers (missing seatbelts and striped stickers). AWESOME.
I totally recognize some of the bagged accessories as being Big Jim sports items too.
$5. Yay!Last edited by Splitty; Aug 7, '13, 8:29 PM.Leave a comment:

----^ Wow. It's so cool finding vintage figs in boxes locally. Alot more fun then finding them online.
You know what I've found in the last two weekends?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
The amount of competition is just too much in my area now. It's gotten to the point where some jerk(s) is constantly creating ads for fake sales. I fell for it twice already .........This is the crap I am dealing with lately.
It's funny how toys ended up strengthening my conviction about how sickening human beings are.Even with buying to resale, it should be at least a little fun. You need a change of scenery.
...so you should probably not look at the stuff below. Just don't look. LOOK A-W-A-Y.
I totally lucked out this weekend My FIRST sale of the morning I just stumbled across was a collector lady just thinning out her stash just to get the house more clear. Her husband goofed and didn't get the Craigs ad posted, so NOBODY KNEW about it! so cool. The prices were very reasonable. She knew about ebay prices (on SOME of the items, others she didn't know), but just didn't care. She even threw things in for free!
And everything here is sooo cool, I don't think I'm going to resale ANY of it. Shame on me!
- Labyrinth 1986 sealed Paper Plates!! $1
- 1976 Ben Cooper King Kong mask (tag still on) in a rare color $1
- 3 Neca Nightmare Before Christmas figures $8-$10 ea (the Witches usually go for $70, which is why I didn't have them yet!)
- oops, I didn't notice the Imperial dragon was missing his wings $3
- super rare ceramic Kreiss-like Worrying Willie nodder $4 (Estate sale find)
- 4 aaahh Real Monsters figs $1.25 ea
- two super-sweet 60s Dam Troll banks $6.99 ea at local thrift store!! (Value Village, NOT Goodwill, as Goodwill ships ALLLLL the good stuff off to be sold on the internet now)
- everything else was like .25-$1
That was a way fun weekend.Last edited by Splitty; Aug 4, '13, 5:08 PM.Leave a comment:

I love it when Splitty puts his stuff up, and Marvelmania is really expanding his eye towards different cool stuff.. Love this thread but like Den I found nothing not for lack of sales, but new baby, plus work, plus heaven forbid social mego gatherings!
I miss hitting sales, maybe next week. Feels like I'm leaving cash all over Clark county for someone else to scoop up. Arghhh!Leave a comment:

Nothing earthshaking. Been picking up a few good odds and ends the past few weeks but not much toy related but found this today and while not many may appreciate it, I absolutely love it. Really fun little item that brings back great memories and reeks 1970s. A boxed Balafire Red Flicker Bulb. bulb is mint and I'll put it to good use and replace my old 1976 Bicentennial Flicker bulb I have in my 7 up flicker can lightThe best .75 cents I've spent in a long while. As a kid I used to stand in the 5th Ave Card Shop in the Mall and stare at these flicker lights until I was about blind.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
The amount of competition is just too much in my area now. It's gotten to the point where some jerk(s) is constantly creating ads for fake sales. I fell for it twice already.
..and when I do finally find what I've been looking for, I've been getting the "gonna put it on eBay" nonsense. eBay print outs taped to items is becoming very common now (did some clown make a YouTube "tips" video?).
Last weekend I went to a good one. Asked the kid about older video games and I heard his father tell him: "there is a Nintendo upstairs but that is NOT to be touched. That is an ORIGINAL Nintendo system and I do not want it leaving that room. We can get more for it at a game store".
I asked the guy if he was sure he wanted to do that and told him I pay good prices. He said, "No, I'm taking to a game store". So I pulled out one of my new business cards and said, "I AM a video game store". Then he read it and asked me about old action figures. Pretty soon they were removing box after box after box of 1980s' GI JOE stuff. After wasting about 20 minutes of my time, they tell me they want to "research" and put it together first and I'd be the first they call. As I am going through the stuff, other idiots started to surround me and started sticking their hands in it all and asking the guy about it.
I went back and asked later (thought maybe they would be more willing). They said "it's all complete now" as they found more and it's "all there". Of course this moron had no idea what he was talking about and a lot of stuff was broken.
This is the crap I am dealing with lately.

I may have to kick myself in the butt. I found the first unofficial appearance of "Clifford the Big Red Dog" in a book from the late 50's. Norman Bridwell started drawing Clifford in the mid-60's. this book was from 1958. The book was called "How to care for your dog". It was a kids book, but the dog on the cover WAS Clifford, but regular size. The book was illustrated by Norman Bridwell.
Edit: I was wrong. The book was from 1964 and Clifford started in 1963. There a few copies on eBay for $10 eachLast edited by theantiquetiger; Aug 3, '13, 3:31 AM.Leave a comment:

They actually posted pics of the stuff on Craigs, he was in it (he's Kamar!), so I went to the sale all panicy thinking I was going to be beating out other vintage Christmas collectors. I was the only one.

Puffy would look great beside his big brother SDCC bank on my nightstand. That Santa is incredibly creepy looking. I would have bought that in a second. Almost has a Gerry Anderson marionette look to it.Leave a comment:
