You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie Banks -
we made it through without losing power for a change. many were not so lucky. also had no damage done to the house. a few branches down but nothig i could not lift or drag off the lawn myself. again, many were not so fortunate. my heart broke when i heard about 2 little boys killed in Westchester county when a tree fell through the house. 11 and 13 years old,. 2 friends having a sleepover during the storm. there were many other deaths that have been reported but that one really sticks with me.Comment

Power still on but cable & internet are down. Biggest issue for many is the power outages are so widespread very few gas stations are open. The ones that are havr crazy lines because people are fillong up gas cans for their generators.Comment

My heart goes out to all of those who lost during this storm. Washington/Baltimore area was very lucky during this. Wish this thing had just gone out to sea. It's all good!Comment

Finally got power back at 1:50 AM Friday morning. I'm exhausted. It's been so frustrating not having power...but it could have been worse. At least I still have a home left. The devastation on the South Shore of Long Island is just ridiculous. Lindenhurst, from what I hear, is like a war zone. I haven't seen anything as far as footage from the news goes. It's real late and I have to wake up in 4 1/2 hours for work."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

I'm here. Thanks for the concern. We lost power from Monday to thursday and there was a lot of wind by me but no water. My parents lost the roof to their house and they're pretty lucky all things considered. They found my brothers friend dead in his house yesterday...the guy had a generator in his garage to keep the lights and tv going and the storm blew his garage door shut without him knowing it and all the carbon monoxide kicked back into his house and put him to sleep while he was watching the tube on his couch. I went out for the first time last night to see Wreck It Ralf (great movie) but it's surreal to still see huge strip malls and traffic lights down after all this time. Not having power was terrible for the few days we didn't have it and after sunset it was like living in the stone age. The worst part was the temperature drop with no heat to be had. I can't even imagine what others are going through without having a home. A friend of mine in Keansburg lost everything Monday so I really can't complain."Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment

Cable and Internet back up. Work connection was down as well and just came back up last night. Everything's fine here, like everyone else just worried about gas. Unfortunately just going back and forth to work, I use a decent amount. Still have 3/4 of a tank and hoping the odd/even thing works out and the gas situation calms down before I need more. I've been lucky so far as I filled up before the storm and was able to top off Wednesday night with only a minor wait.Comment
