It has been interesting here in the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. My house sits at just over 4,000 feet and we had just over 4 inches of snow and ice Sunday. In some parts of the GSMNPark they had over 7 inches. The road from NC to Tenn was closed cause of the accumulation. It's early Tuesday and snowing out bigtime. I expect to lose power some time this morning. It's just after 3am right now. They are calling for snow pretty much everywhere around here with it being worse the higher up you are. I haven't seen snow this early since 1993. I remember halloween that year was nothing cause of the snow. I hope everyone stays safe over the next few days.

Whew, no water in the basement, not a drop! At least so far. And we didn't lose power.

That's great news. Glad to hear that most all of you are holding up well. Boy you Yankees are tougher than I've been led to believe Seriously, I know it's not over yet but glad things aren't worse.

We made out ok here in Sewell, South Jersey. Lot of little branches down in our yard, but we kept power and our basement is dry.

Fortunately we rode the storm out without losing power. Southern Mass and Rhode Island had a pretty tough time though. The full moon tide didn't help. Heard they beat the old high tide record by over 2 feet. Put most of the streets under 4 feet of water for about 5 or 6 hours. Fortunately most of it resided when the tide went out. We had less than half the people that lost power in Irene. Guess the electric company got their stuff together. Back to reality.

I am good here in Northern NJ -- but have family without power.

Have a friend that had to be evacuated from her apartment. due to flooding. She said the water was up to her waist when she got out. She got out with her dog and laptop -- everything else gone.
