It's windy. And rainy. Still 8 hours from hitting the peak.

Had to go into work this morning. I work for a plumbing supply house and the dis-concern that my bosses have for the people that work for them is just reprehensible. We did end up leaving at about 12:30...but the fact that they asked people to come in that live more than 15 - 20 miles away was ridiculous. I live only about 5 - 6 miles away...so for me it was no big deal. But to risk the lives of others that live further away than I do is sickening in my opinion. God forbid we miss out on making a whole $20 on a pump we sell to a homeowner. I think we had a total of about 5 walk in customers in the 4 hours we were open. The lights and computers cost more to power than they made today. I just don't get it. Can they really be that hard up for cash??!!??

BTW, if you live south of Montauk Highway here on Long Island...I suggest you try to get to higher ground. It's gonna get worse come around 9 - 10 PM tonight when the tides come in. And there is a full moon which means the tides will be much higher than anticipated. Stay safe all.

I'm in patchogue, long island. Neighbors tree just took out his power and his yard....and it hasn't even started yet. Hoping to keep power and suffer no major damage.

Already over 50,000 in our area without power. Not me thankfully. 3 hours until the heavy stuff hits.

Just had a huge chunk of siding fly off the side of my house and had to go out and hammer it back on. That was fun. Also, my one neighbor decided to leave all of his patio furniture and kids toys in the back yard...what an idiot. I'm surprised he remembered to take his dog in. It's blowing from one side of his yard to the other. He's my rear neighbor so I'd have to go around the block to tell him to get that stuff secured and it just seems to dangerous to do that but if he were the guy next door, I would have been knocking on his door a few hours ago. Just stupid. Right now were getting just a light rain but a lot of wind. The wind is gonna get worse in the next couple of hours but they're doubting if my area is gonna get the amount of rain they were first predicting. That wind is gonna do some serious damage round here though. The power has already gone out 3 times but thankfully come back on and the longest stretch has only been about 40 minutes or so. I'm pretty sure it'll go out longer tonight once the winds kick up.

A few brown outs and one downed tree in a neighbor's yard so far. We've been spared but are still sweating it out.

Jeez, things are just getting worse out there for everyone up north. Even the stock market is three feet under water. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. My prayers are with all of you who are facing this tonight and for many hard days to come. Be safe.

I can't wait to check out my other house in the AM. I should start a contest to guess how deep the water will be. Hopefully not past the electric outlets so I can get the pump working. I can't believe I have to go through this two years in a row. The good news is that nothing is in the basement since we moved out. The bad news is that it will be that much harder to sell. I guess I should be grateful. We are safer in the new house. Be safe to all my fellow east coasters.
