Well with two pumps and the new awning put up after my last flood all I can do is keep my fingers crossed....and just when the price of gas started going down they say Sandy will be hitting our refineries and we can expect prices to soar again.....ugh x 2
Here in the city (NYC)...all mass transit is closed down until further notice. Parts of the city in Zone A are under a mandatory evacuation. Wall Street and the entire Financial District is in Zone A at the southern tip of Manhattan.
I work for the city of New York just above Battery Park...the southern tip of Manhattan (the Financial District/Wall Street). Mayor Bloomberg wants all city employees to report to work, including my office, which is in the mandatory evacuation zone.
So far it looks like it's path is straight toward us after it makes landfall. We might see it on Tuesday depending how fast it moves, and who knows what kind of storm it will be by then. I gave the generator a test run today, and it's ready for any power outages just in case.
Winds are picking up here on Long Island. Looks like Jersey is gonna get the brunt of the storm. Being that we are on the outer bands we'll still get 75 MPH winds.
They say that the mountains in West Virginia may get up to a foot of snow on the backside of the hurricane. Everyone stay inside and don't go anywhere unless it's a must.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
