Toyota Solara's for the wife and I. 2002 with 120K+ on it for me, and a 2006 with 68K+ on it for the wife. We love them, but I need something with more space, so I'm thinking about a Toyota Venza, which is fairly ugly, and doesn't seem to make sense for a couple, but it's built on a Camry base like the Solara, and we can load it up for long camping weekends. I also like "riding up high, checking things out".

A little known fact is that ALL of the small cars of that era (including the Vega) had the exact same problem. In fact, of all the small cars that did, the Pinto had the LEAST amount of explosions/fires. Classic case of the media having a heavy influence on what got reported all to bleep. Although the story behind the Pinto's problem is a mind bender. That's probably why the media ran with it the way they did

Well the big deal with the Pinto was that ford new about the filler tube problem and the differential bolts puncturing the tank if the tank moved forward before production. I agree that this was way over hyped, but with this car they proved ford new about it and moved forward.

That's it. They estimated that they would spend 6-10 million to fix the problem and 3 million in lawsuits if they left it go. Lee Iacocca (who was President of Ford at the time) wrote a memo saying that safety doesn't sell, not to fix it. The memo was found later and resulted in him leaving Ford (after about 100 million in lawsuits - I hope those guys who made the estimates got canned).

I drive a 2011 Honda Civic LX for the gas mileage and the Honda reputation for reliability.

My family drives a 2006 Honda Odyssey mini-van....which I just paid off this month. Still runs like a top with about 120K miles on it. We expect to get 250K before we're done with it.

I have a 68 Mustang Fastback, That I picked up in 88 after I graduated High School. I bought it from my buddies parents and he still comes over to visit it. We have a 2009 Ford Explorer which I bought new for my wife to haul the kids around in, and recently purchased a 2008 Mustang. The new style developed by Ford in 2005 is a perfect blend of retro style, and modern convenience. I bought it on ebay as a salvage vehicle (only way I could afford it) and did the repair work myself. I will allways be a Mustang Guy, and have my kids brianwashed in the same thinking "Mustangs Rock". My very first car was a 74 Mustang II in my school colors, blue and grey. The car had a moon roof!! alloy mag wheels, vinyl top. When I finished with it, my parents made me give it to my sister, who promptly traded it for a ....shudder...chevy Bereta. I'd love to find that car and restore it. The mustang II gets a lot of Crud, but I loved that car. I paid 1,300.00 for it back in 85 at a swap meet.
I'm looking for a 68 mustang covertible to restore next. I have the Mustang sickness.

I drive a 2005 Ford F-150 XLT Super Crew. I love it. It is my evacutation mobile. If I gotta get outta dodge because of an impending hurricane or zombie attack, I can load this baby up and go. My daily driver is a 1994 Harley Davidson XL Hugger.
