2001 Toyota Camry I have had for about 2 1/2 years now. The reason is easy, My previous car was 1994 Camry purchased new by mu mother and then sold to me in 1998/99.I became a heavy traveler during this time and racked up quite a bit of mileage, before the car started going to it's deathbed at the end of 2009. After a few repair attempts I realized there was not getting around the fact it was done. For a car to have served relatively dependably for 11 years made my next purchase a no-brainer.
Although I was on a somewhat limited budget I knew I wanted another Camry.
I made the right choice. Other than a stalling issue which seemed to take forever to get fixed, the car have served me equally as well as the previous one.Comment

2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. I wanted a lite sport utility and liked it better than the Ford Escape or the Honda or Toyota. Price was right, reviews were good. It's looking a little rough around the edges, paint looks sad. We're going to drive it until my kid gets old enough that the vehicle isn't just a big box filled with cracker crumbs and playground sand and smells of fermented apple juice.
We rental drove a Mustang once and liked it. Then we had to choose between a cool new car and having a kid...so we reproduced. His middle name should be Mustang or BMW.
Our other is a 1998 Jetta that also needs a paint job but only has 76k on it and is likely to run for another 20 years. Fun as heck to drive, but no headroom.

We have two cars.
Mine is a 1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 in Desert Dune with 81000 miles on it. I've had it for 7 years and aside from 2 small rust spots on the front chrome bumper, looks like it's brand new. I've had to replace an O2 sensor, battery, tires, brakes, fuel filter, and spark plugs (all were original to the car when I bought it). That's it. I love this vehicle. Sure, the mileage isn't great (getting about 16 and 22 now that I've replaced and cleaned some things), but I only put about 10 miles on it for commuting and errands every day, so I'm filling it up every 3 weeks or so. It's easy to work on, and easy to customize (which I'm hoping to do once I move into a place with a garage this summer). It's starting to get a fair amount of rust on the undercarriage, which is what happens when you live in the midwest. Still, I'm thinking this thing will make it to 20 years, easily. The engine is pretty much bullet-proof as long as you keep up with maintenance.
My wife has an 06 Nissan Altima 2.5S in gray with 52,000 miles. It's a very reliable vehicle, but it won't ever hold a special place in her or my heart.Comment
