I don't remember, because I got a bunch all at once when I joined the stupid Columbia House CD club. Pretty sure my selections included U2, Billy Joel, Huey Lewis, Led Zeppelin, and (yikes!) Cinderella. This was in '88 or '89. I didn't actually own my own CD player, however, until 1990.

called "NIGHT SONGS" is PERFECT"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I got my first cd player in 1986. There was a company called Marc on Wax that was reissuing TREX albums with more songs on them than the vinyl. My first was 'The Slider'. I still listen to that one.
I think my second cd was Pink Floyd's the wall. I think it was novel to only have to switch discs once rather than flip sides three times. I don't play that one much anymore.Comment

cds are just plain outdated now although i still buy em from time to time , but i wouldn't have it any other way an endlist computer library beats a few cds that can get scratched.Comment

I think I got my first CD player in 86 or 87 and I believe the first Cd I bought was Elvis' Golden Records which was "restored to original mono".
I used to put a little number down on the inside corner of the booklet when I first started buying them to indicate which order I purchased them in. (don't know why, must have a little OCD in me? LOL)

Quite a thread bump. I took a quick look to see if I already answered the question, and sure enough I did.
I just want to add that my first CD player was part of a cheap rack system that I bought at Kmart in 1987. The brand name was Yorx, I'm guessing it was some kind of Kmart brand, as I've never heard of the company before or since. Predictably, it wasn't the greatest, discs started skipping on it a couple years later.
I still have a bunch of my early CDs, even the original cardboard long boxes they originally came in (remember those?)Comment

I think I got mine in 87. I bought Tom Petty Pack up the Plantation and David Bowie Changesonebowie. The Bowie was an early release CD and the only time that version was made into a CD. Later, Rykodisc got it, dropped the ONE and added a few tunes.Comment
