George himself turned the title down prefering president

I think it was that kind of humility that made the US what it is today.

As far as the British form of government, to each his own and whatever works for them

I have no issue with the Royal Family. I think it's kind of fun to watch, (Pippa mostly), and I like the tradition, except for the super boring, extra long choir songs. William seems like a pretty stand up guy. America's in no position to point fingers, anyway. Besides, it's nice to have something happy and positive to watch instead of disasters, death and destruction. Best of luck to them both. Cheers.

If we can stage something like that just months before we stage the Olympics then i don't accept that we have no money in this country, we must have loads.

I think the Olympics are a waste of money, too...
Reminds me of China, where ten of thousands of poor people living in shacks were kicked out, to make room for a stadium that would serve a purpose for a couple of weeks, only to become derelict afterwards.

The royals did nothing but to take, and take, and take...from hard-working peasants for centuries.

But to be honest...like someone else pointed out...they do draw tourists...so I guess it evens out.

I do like British history though...pretty fascinating stuff.

However...sometimes their history tends to be a little biased in the English-written media sometimes...like in the case of the Spanish Armada.

Yeah...the Spaniards lost that one.

But did you guys know that about a year after that...the tables were turned.

Well Hec, hopefully what Diana attempted to teach her sons when she was alive sunk in. She always tried to show them how good they have it and that there are people in the world who are needlessly suffering. Maybe when they one day take they will attempt to change parts of the world for the better.
