It's certainly a valid point that soda is lousy for you. Any nutritionist will tell you that. I know (from experience) that when I'm trying to lose weight, one of the most effective things I can do is cut out the soda, and I don't even drink that much of it to begin with.

But damn, I do crave the stuff. Coke and Mt. Dew being my drugs of choice. Oh, and cherry Crush.

I also love shakes, but don't drink them much with meals. Too filling.

Shakes are much more satisfying to me. The brain receptors are just asking for fat!

nowadays everything you drink except water is bad for you, so i say go out drinking what you like....shakes are some of the most fat'ning things you could drink and that's why I don't drink them that often, especially the McDondalds ones...

I'm addicted to coke and yes everyone knows it's not healthy but it won't kill ya, look at pro athletes they drink Gatorade and power-ade(which is the same company as what? COKE!! ) and go ahead and read the nutrition facts, it has a lot of sugar as well 12oz of coke has 39grams of sugar to Gatorades 21grams but Gatorade almost double the carbs so in other words it's the same crap

so i say drink what makes you happy.....and for me that's both Coke and Gatorade

If you eat junk (Garbage in,Garbage out) you'll get nutrient deficient and will eventually get disease and with ALL the processed foods we eat today, people are getting sick from mal-nutrition.I can argue this all day because I have studied and researched this stuff.I dont stick my nose up in the air when someone is warning me of something that just may be hurting me.(I say this in the fullest respect).

See Great Documentaries such as Food Matters,The Gerson Miracle, to even the documentary of the guy who ate at Mcdonald's only for 30 days and he almost died because of it.

I am aware of many things, and its my nature as a person to warn people.Take it or leave it...I am just trying to help, as there may be people who are unware that diet soda and regular soda cause alot of health problems

I never get sick why? because I educated myself on proper nutrition. Its not a holier than thou attitude.I value my life and want to live a long time and I know nutritious food keeps you from disease.

I havnt Drank a Soda in a year and half...and I feel so much better
I know you mean well and all...and like I've said earlier...a nutritional stand alone thread about the potential dangers of soda consumption would better serve on another thread that sticks to that subject matter...but it's kinda rude having it here.

You have to realize that this place is all about nostalgia and sort of pretending to be a kid all over again...that's the reason we all collect Megos in the first place.

That's why threads like "who loves bubble gum" are so much fun...this place is pure escapism...turns us 30s and 40 somethings...into 12 year old's again...

...but we don't need someone to come in and say bubble gum causes cavities (which can, especially if you don't maintain your teeth)...we all obviously know that...but don't wanna hear that...we just wanna know who likes bubble gum...that's it...pretty simple.

But your input is much appreciated nevertheless...we are not here to pick fights...just to have harmless fun on a nostalgic site.

            Thanks for reading this...

P.S. For all it's worth...my teeth have yellowed due to soda drinking (and I brush and floss at least twice a day)...I'm a sucker for colas...so I know exactly what you are saying (gotta go to my dentist about this problem)...I hear ya...

Before I call up Springer and make a booking for a future show, there is no need to bicker over something as insignificant as a beverage....how about ice water with lemon for Teemu and a Coke float for Hec?

I dont drink sodas enough to bother with, but I'll tell you my FAVORITE fountain confection - the Root Beer Float! My pop made these like a pro, having actually been a 'jerk' for a couple years pre-WWII. He would always use Dad's or Hire's root beer, and Breyer's vanilla ice cream....ohhhhhhhh babyyyyy....

Is a float a shake or a soda? Some of my folk's friends, the old timers, called anything with a carbonated base, rather flavored with ice creams or fruit extracts or whatever, a "soda"...so... ....Beats me.....

When we're in restaurants, I order water with lemon. If we're on the road and I have to eat fast food, then it's a coke. But that's the exception to the rule. To me fast food and cokes are a once in a while treat. Like when I was a kid! I like home cooked meals. And sometimes I'll eat separate from everyone else. I'm big on fish or chicken with rice. Then I add barbecue sauce to make my efforts in vain. I figure I'm still coming out on top if my pants are fitting me correctly and I can run after about 90 minutes. But of course none of this applies during the Superbowl...Oh baby...My wife makes this seven layer nacho dip; meatballs in barbecue sauce with a little syrup for proper glazing... and then for dessert - Punch bowl cake. You say, "Tom. What is a punch bowl cake?" Ah...very simple. Take a punch bowl, break up one whole angel food cake into chunks. Whip up two boxes of vanilla pudding and pour over chunks in bowl. Then cover with two containers of whipped cream and chill. Oh man... After eating spicy food all day...THAT is the ticket. You'll be hooked. I guarantee. Oh, and I skip the water on that day too...
