All the Bourne flicks were great too...Supremacy, Identity, and Ultimatum...but I couldn't squeeze them into my top 12.

Same goes for 300, WALL-E, The Incredibles, Sin City, V for Vendetta, There Will Be Blood, Gran Torino, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill, Spider-Man...and so on.

    So many...so many...

      You certainly have a point.

And on that topic, I think, that aspect is one of Tarantino's strengths
actually....so I have to in some way "retract" and give you your due...
I, however, am a sucker for being manipulated by such stuff put forth by
directors, so I'm in suspense til the hand is shown.

(Altho' the last scene is one of the best movie enders of all-time IMO)
I agree...that movie is just outside my top 12...but it's up there as well.

I have to say, I don't think I can argue against anyone's picks (at least among the movies I have seen).

I can't give an honest opinion for any of the LOTR movies because, for all three, I drove Jr. High/High School students to midnight showings, and being the old man I am now, I honestly slept through all three and haven't yet found the desire to revisit them.

That is not an indictment on the movies, just bear in mind, I'm a Dude who put in a full week and got in a van to drive kids to see a midnight premier. They all seemed to love it, but I got a good three hour nap before I drove them back home.

Yep....love that one, too. Costner is Costner and I think he is at his best in a Western (much like Selleck). Duvall is good in anything, but he is a modern John Wayne when it comes to Westerns. Michael Jeter's last on screen role and I thought he was brilliant!

Gran Torino was a Western, as well, though disguised as a modern tale. Gotta give it props, too.

Clint Eastwood and Bobby Duvall need to get together for a Western real quick.

ha...ha I actually thought about putting ROTSith on my list but
there are weakest links in that movie that bring down any competitive
strength that that movie would have had to exist on any "greats" list
I'd make of movies---then again, no superhero movies could achieve that
amount of worth on a "greats" list of mine either---and there's kinda
a connection between those types of movies.

Best movie of the 2000s that comes CLOSE to that "type" of movie
that comes CLOSE to making my list?

                        LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD

                        that reminds me...
also...honorable mention to another old franchise...
a more "dramatic" film....ROCKY BALBOA...that was a pretty good flick

Live Free or Die Hard was Fanastic.
The advertisements Trailers for that were even better !

                          " No Cape"
                          " He Can't Transform"
" He has No Super Powers" ...

But Man Did he Kick Arse !!!!

Sith was good too,.. but the Idea of Star Wars only made it "Great" .

Gladiator was Awesome too ...., but in the End , Movies that Kill he main Character, that you watch Kick butt threw the Movie,.. always leaves them from Being "Great" to me.

I hate the fact that they took everything away from Rocky in 5 to begin with .... I did like Rambo 4 ... the chacter finally had some sorta closure at the end.
