I've been obsessed about the Planet of the Apes since I first saw the movie when I was 8 years old. Getting made up as Zira just brings my obsession up a notch and will fulfill a childhood dream of mine. It will be the ultimate plateau for me, and I'm just so giddy with excitement as February looms.

That's amazing!
It's a lot better than the tin foil antennae I made for my Andorian costume.
I was never very crafty, but I was also 12 years old and kinda lazy.
If you've ever been to a Kiss concert and seen some of the homemade costumes.
It was like that. Bad.Comment

Thank you Del! I would love to hang out with you. Do you go to the Dragoncon? I am trying to get there, come hell or highwater, September 2009 (just have to break away from the husband and kids for a weekend). My sister has promised to come along to be my chaperone there and make sure that I don't get into any "trouble." Wow, I wish I was half as talented. Maybe then I would have done something when I lived closer to one of those regular Conventions. I think the closest one to Western North Carolina is in Florida.

I'm so pumped to be Zira. I am five feet tall (just 3 inches shorter than Kim Hunter) and I think I would make the perfect chimp!! I think I have decided which fabric for the brown underdress. I am going to cut up my sweater for the neckwrap, and I will use the fabric that I have "woven" for the chimp sleeve lining. So if there are any Bay Area peeps here, please come to the Wondercon and see me in full ape regalia!!Those who look outside dream. Those who look within awake.
