I keep changing my mind about the color of the brown underdress. Should I go with a lighter brown as from Escape or should I go with a darker brown as in the actual 1968 movie? Ugh!!! Decisions...decisions!! I am sooooooo confused.....maybe that's why I have not started the undergarment yet.

Why be like every other Zira? Just hit the thrift store and you can be 70's Zira.

That outfit is for 2011 (if I can manage to keep my shape).

2010 is going to be Ape-O-Naut Zira.

Actually now that I think of it, that Escape pantsuit (or whatever it was) would be a pretty neat outfit for a Mego Zira.

I can easily MacGuyver this outfit, including the swing jacket, since I've already made it in 1/6 scale.

And...I can re-use my chimp boots! Bonus!!

This is going to be great Jessica. Do you ever go to comicons or cosplay events? I think you'd be a big hit.

This is going to be my first ever comicon, the Wondercon in San Francisco this coming February. The makeup artist/actor, Dan Morgan, is also going to be in full ape regalia and he will be wearing a chimp outfit made by Paula Crist for Bill Blake, including his shoes so I will officially have a "date." (Thought I would have to send out an SOS to the Apes Yahoo group to see if somebody would appear as Cornelius for me, but Dan saved the day so I won't have to go it alone. Dan said he was mobbed last year and that's kind of neat and scary at the same time.)

Can't we see some in progress pics of the pieces? Could be in the Custom section, but I'd like to see them. Also got to include before and after pics in February.

Cornelius at Wondercon, courtesy of Flickr. (That's not me).

This is me under the goop to get a lifemold:

Me with Apemania's raw Zira appliance on my face before it's been properly painted and glued down. I have no idea how the Zira appliance will look, the one that Tom Rubalcava will sculpt. Dan will cook up the foam latex and it should fit like a glove since it will be sculpted over a cast of my face. I hope it looks just as good if not better. I anxiously await.

The chimp boots that I made. It is a pair of pink clod hoppers covered with Crayola Magic Sculpt and then covered in a rich brown fabric. A zipper runs down the back of the shaft for easy on and off.

A closeup of the chimp inner sleeves which I wove:

Here are the boots in the process of getting a rubber sole, a cut-up car mat. I was going to use leather but somebody had reminded me that wet leather on tile floors are very slippery.
