Thanks, Sammy. I am just so excited I am bouncing off the walls. If I didn't have to make dinner, I would still be styling her hair to get it just perfect...and I would be adding additional hair to the hair pieces that I bought... Why does life have to get in the way????

The top picture, the "before shot", looks like one of the female chimps from pota2001!

Mike, did you see the link that James posted of the female apes? My four year-old (who is a Michael Jackson fan) asked, "Is that one Michael Jackson?" as he pointed to Ari.

Here's the link: fantasy makeups | werewolves, apes | themakeupgallery

I am back from piano lessons, and armed with two packages of hair, and toupee tape!! I'll be busy for the next couple of hours...

I can't wait to see it completed, Jess. When is WonderCon again?

Feb. 27 to March 1. I'm going on Sunday, March.

Well, I'm taking a little break from adding more hair to the hairline. Armed with the smallest crochet hook I could find, I have been taking two strands of hair at one time, creating a loop and pulling through and binding it in a simple slip knot to the lace. It's a slow process. It doesn't seem like I have done much although I've been at it for a few hours now.

This is one majorly involved project - can't wait any longer to see the final product.

That's funny... I mean people have been asking that since 2001 and eight years later a new batch is pondering that.

Today it was all about hand tying two strands of hair at a time around Zira's hairline. Holy crap! That took all day! But....I LOVE how it came out, and it will save me some time from having to glue batches of individual hairs all around my face on that day.

Look at the beautiful profile created at the top of her hairline...two strands of hair at a time!!

I just put the beard around her jawline. Not sure how that will look in the end. Needs serious trimming, or perhaps cutting in half and placing the other way around. I'm just going to be one walking hairball that day.

Are you going to airbrush or paint her in some other way? I ask because on my computer, she is awfully "flesh" colored compared to Kim in PLANET... Maybe it's just my monitor though?

Mike, that latex mask is not the one I'm going to wear. The rubber quality of the latex just keeps the main wig from falling off the plastic mannequin head. It also helps me to visualize where the project is going. Actually, I purchased that latex Zira mask from Matt Sotis, in the hopes of one day turning it into a Zira pullover mask. It definitely needs more painting, though. Someday. But, after putting on a foam latex mask, you just can't feel "right" with latex.
