"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix -
Obviously they were going more for the American Splendor/Sideways slant in this casting. What may be unfortunate for them is they may have underestimated the number of Ba-ba-booies that make up their target audience. From the tone of this thread it looks like I may be right on that one."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. This literal interpretation thing is so insane to me.One minute people are freaking out about Pepper Pott's hair colour, and what race Electro is - but a small nerdy old man playing a gigantic wrestler type dude doesn't matter? I just don't understand the rules of it at all.Last edited by Brazoo; May 13, '13, 10:47 AM.Comment

That's gotta be his pre-Rhino look. I'm less worried now that I've seen Electro. Still not happy about the casting choice there or lack of costume, but he does look like the ultimates version of the character, and i have to admit, is pretty freaking scary looking.Comment

>I feel like these movies are trying so desperately hard to NOT be "camp" that they've out-serioused themselves into being "camp"
....woah.... my mind.... it is BLOWN!!!!
I think you're right. If you're TRYING to be camp, you're not camp; you're engaging in parody. If you're self-consciously doing a superhero film that screams "No! this is SERIOUS!" you're doing camp.
>it looks like something straight out of Raimi's films...which were intentionally campy in parts
Wait.... I sport the Tor Johnson look like the dude in the pic. Does that make ME camp?
....or am I parody?

Between you and Brian we have "camp = overseriousness" piled onto "camp = Paul Giamatti's presence" equalling "a double-helping of spidey-prejudice"... this Spider-sequel is turning out to be a regular 60's Batman episode and we haven't even seen the trailer yet."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. So, tell me.... What's Batman Begins, again? "Camp" or "NOT camp"?"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. Also...
Besides a couple Parker moments in 3, were there other Raimi campy bits in the series?"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. It exists in the middle ground of "pretentious."
>You name dropped Tor Johnson.
I've been in a Tor frame of mind as of late. There's a reason that'll hopefully become clear soon.
