Obviously they were going more for the American Splendor/Sideways slant in this casting. What may be unfortunate for them is they may have underestimated the number of Ba-ba-booies that make up their target audience. From the tone of this thread it looks like I may be right on that one.

That's gotta be his pre-Rhino look. I'm less worried now that I've seen Electro. Still not happy about the casting choice there or lack of costume, but he does look like the ultimates version of the character, and i have to admit, is pretty freaking scary looking.

I think you're right. If you're TRYING to be camp, you're not camp; you're engaging in parody. If you're self-consciously doing a superhero film that screams "No! this is SERIOUS!" you're doing camp.

Between you and Brian we have "camp = overseriousness" piled onto "camp = Paul Giamatti's presence" equalling "a double-helping of spidey-prejudice"... this Spider-sequel is turning out to be a regular 60's Batman episode and we haven't even seen the trailer yet.
