Tim was portrayed as over-obsessed with bringing Conner back, but as written he lost his best friend after losing his father, and before had lost his mother, etc. Besides, that didn't happen in the DCnU that I know of.

Tim was portrayed as straight for 20 years...but I know that doesn't matter to DC.

Again... it all comes down to what "major character" means.

Could you imagine if Archie, Reggie, Jughead or Moose were revealed to be gay.

Talk about controversy over established characters!

It would be unsettling if it was one of the bigger characters like Grayson...
...but if he were still a bit younger "in Robin era" I guess it'd be a bit
easier to characterize.... younger characters should be easier to
write as sexualy conflicted just by default.

^^^ Tim Drake, got to be. Wasn't he more than a little obsesive over Conner Kent?

It's totally believable that the entire DCU isn't 100% heterosexual, I can't think of a group, organization or a team that I belonged to that was. I'm fine with the Justice League being that way, it should go without saying.

This feels like exploitation on the part of DC. I hope I'm wrong. Those newspaper articles always says "Pow! Splat! comics aren't for kids anymore!" but I don't feel they're grown up either...

They have to be SOMEwhat "sexless" to sell in PG rated comics...
STILL they often are defined by their significant others... at least the
    major ones are anyways.

Changing their sexual preference is pretty significant when you look at it like that.

    >is it really necessary to "out" a character that's been around for 70 years?

Y’know.... superheroes are all pretty sexless to begin with, so just how big a deal IS this kind of thing?

    >Wonder Woman's been a bondage queen for years...maybe.

....and judging by the 60's Aparo covers, so was Aquaman.

    >Apparently the whole new Batwoman thing didn't get them enough attention so they're going to try with an established character instead?

THAT’S what bothers me with publicity stunts like this: it’s already been done.... a few times, and it’s gonna amount to little more than an affectation ‘cos they don’t have the stones to ACTUALLY deal with any controversy!

Maybe they’re doing it ‘cos Archie got so much good press over their take.

    >DC is obviously trying to steal some of Northstar's mainstream media attention tomorrow.

DC is obviously trying to steal some of Northstar's mainstream media attention tomorrow. Conveniently forgetting that they actually had the first mainstream superhero gay wedding in the pages of The Authority... At the time they desperately tried to avoid the headlines that writer Mark Millar was courting for that particular event. Censorship on that particular run was pretty severe... Setting the stage for Millar to jump to Marvel's Ultimates.

Supes gets exposed to Pink Kryptonite... and until it's effects wear off,
he slags off Lois and attempts to hook up with a prominent current
Supes-world MALE character that's around the Daily Planet.

Get a gay writer in on the creative process of the plot/story...
...and, man, that would be a BIG "event comic"... probably'd even rival
    the "Death Of" era.

Hawkman, gotta be, Hawkman. As convulted as his character is, who would notice a little sodomy?

They only mentioned Twitter users have been talking about him...
they didn't say if it made any logica/practical sense.

Plus, as anyone writing for the masses knows... an "Aquaman quip"
is worth it's weight in comedy/mockery gold.
