Andrew Garfield makes a great Parker/Spidey...he has the face, the acting chops, the voice...and most of all...he's better built for Spidey than the shorter and slightly stockier Tobey Maguire...wow...I LOVE the look of this movie...and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy is gonna make everyone forget about Kristen Dunst's Mary Jane...

...I might be in the minority here...but this trailer gave me more goosebumps than even The Avengers...believe it or not...

You're definitely NOT alone here Hector...I think it looks AWESOME!! Andrew Garfield is going to make everybody forget about that whiney little cry baby Tobey Maguire. I like the rubbery suit, it has the black lines instead of the raised silver. And Emma Stone as Gwen...huba, huba!
I also like Dennis Leary as Cpt.Stacy. Man...now I'm really PSYCHED for this movie!

I hate to tell you this Bat, but you may be eating your words on the emotional treatment... This director has already said his characters will bring a "bouquet of emotions." So if your looking for a one dimensional "tough guy" movie where everyone acts like Saturday morning cartoons, you may be shocked here. One thing is for sure, if this puppy cries, we're going to rib you all summer.

Uhm....I just watched the trailer and, since I've neither had my morning shower nor my AM java, I'll withhold judgement. Suffice to say, I think the trailer should have it's own stand alone thread because I think there's going to be A LOT said about it.

In brief, being a DL fan, I did like Denis Leary, but not necessarily his interpretation of Captain Stacy because the character feels all wrong (unless we're just seeing all this s**t out of context, which we probably are).

Not a big fan of Connors with a Brit accent---he was an all-American scientist with a wife and son he was terrified of injuring or killing as The Lizard.

Can't say whereas I'm a big fan of what looks like Peter Parker's brilliance coming up with the formula that actually CREATES The Lizard instead of curing him...

More ruminations after I watch it, but Webb's Spidey seems to swing A LOT like Raimi's and even yells when he does it, like Raimi's, so put THAT in yer pipe Raimi-Spidey naysayers and smoke it.....

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Spider-Man wins the super-hero trailer war to me. I'm was planning to see all three anyway, but seeing the trailer has me actually looking forward to Spidey, now.

That wasn't the case before. It's definitely taking its cues from the Ultimate origin as reported. And, no doubt, Capt. Stacy is out of character based on the original comic series, but did anyone expect Leary to play a calm, patient character? Capt. Stacy was different in the Ultimate series, but I don't remember him being a hothead as it seems portrayed in the trailer. Seems like Stacy might be carrying the JJJ banner in this film.

I don't mind Ifans accent that much. I think he's Welsh, but he'd be a very cool Captain Boomoerang for a Flash or Suicide Squad film.

No, I'm not looking for a one dimensional tough guy, or a Saturday morning cartoon. Of course every movie has to have an emotional human element to it, or otherwise we wouldn't care about the characters. I fully expect tears from Peter Parker when his Uncle been is killed. I just don't expect him to cry three times like Tobey did in Spiderman 3.
So just to be clear, I won't be eating my words...I fully expect Peter to be "Human"...I just don't think you'll see Peter skipping around to the tune of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head".

I'm going to pay my $10 to get in, get my popcorn, and soda and enjoy this movie for what it is....To entertain me.....

Go into it with an open mind and be the judge for yourself after the fact!

It is simple: No movie will ever meet every fans expectations

People even had Criticism of "The Dark Knight" ....... This was overall an AMAZING film, with an amazing story and direction.

Just want to add one other thing...I like the Sam Rami Spiderman movies, I own all 3. And I've been eyeing the Bluray box set.

Were they perfect? No of course not. Us "old-timers" and die hard Spidey fans will always have little nit-picks(Power Rangers Goblin, organic webshooters, Tobey crying too much, etc...)but I still like them despite the flaws.

Actually four times. Okay let's examine the Spider-man 3 tears. MJ unexpectedly breaks up with Peter after he's ready to ask the girl he has loved since childhood for her hand in marriage. Yeah, no reason to be emotional there. What would you do? It seems like a natural reaction to a traumatic event. He has an emotional blow up with Captain Stacy (perhaps more anger than tears) after being told the killer of his uncle is still alive? Yeah. I guess that's overboard. It was just a life changing moment that gave him the conviction to be Spider-man. Now he finds out it was based on a lie. Yep. No reason to get upset there. And then at the end his best friend dies in his arms. Why in God's name would anyone strike a note of sadness over that? And let's not forget his final act of forgiving the man who killed his uncle because he realizes his uncle would expect him to do so since it was an accident. So he reflects and does it out of loving memory for his uncle which only underscores the gravity of his loss. I would say the man has had one h*ll of a bad day. Wouldn't YOU? Uhm... To me it all lines up with a person who is being honest with himself and moving from a place of integrity and CONVICTION! How else could he don the suit if he wasn't pulling strong emotions of loss and regret from the inside? I guarantee you this director will be pulling from that same core material to explain Parker's motivations. And with Gwen Stacy in the mix now, we might even get the Goblin kill in this series that many missed on the the first trilogy. Yeah. There are plenty of reasons this Parker will get emotional. So instead of dissing the series because it's not this month's flavor, how about being real with the material and just accepting it as character development as you suggested above? That's all I'm saying. Tobey did some good work there. Raimi put Spider-man on the map. He's due a little respect for that don't you think?

Dude, you just want to argue and I'm not going to play that game with ya. I told you I liked the Rami Spiderman movies(liked them enough to buy them!). Spiderman 2 being my favorite. If buying all of Rami's Spidey movies isn't "giving him his due"...then I don't what is.

I guess it's just personal tastes...I could live with Tobey Maguire as Peter Paker, but I prefer Andrew Garfield. Sorry to offend you.

I was playing no games with you Bat. When you reduce your comments to "cry baby Maguire" I was simply seeking an explanation for that mockery, since nothing in those films merited that kind of description. I rationalized my points and was never offended by anything you had to say. Life goes on...

I just wanted to make my feelings quick with the "cry baby Maguire" comment, without having to write a Bible length explanation like you do, every time you and Samurainoir go at it.

And don't get my started on ALL the problems with the Spiderman 3 script. You could have taken out one(or two)Tobey crying scenes if they hadn't re-wrote history and made the Sandman the real killer of Uncle Ben. I HATE that they did that.

I agree! There is plenty wrong with the script on Spider-man 3. And I absolutely agree they could have made a killer script out of just focusing on the Sandman alone. My personal feeling is Raimi wanted a one villain story before the studios stuck their nose into it. I don't think Raimi ever intended to have multiple villains. That just wasn't his style. I mean look how long he kept that one actor waiting to play the Lizard! And then boom! All that waiting for nothing. You and me can talk in full agreement all day about the problems with Spidey 3. Plenty to examine there. Here let's take some tissues and go watch it and cry together.

Here...so people can see how wrong Maguire was for Spidey...stocky, short-armed...and broad-chested...he made a buff little Spidey...

Garfield on the other hand is super lean and long-armed...perfect Spidey body...
