At least they showed some Nazis. From the previews it looked like they were rewriting history with Hydra.
I don't think what they were doing to Bucky was explained.

But that's when CGI works best...when you don't notice it...practically half the movie had CGI...

It was a very good traditional fun movie. It really did a good job with the characters, especially Cap. I like that the action seemed much more grounded in stuntwork, rather than CG.Leave a comment:

I probably missed it's explanation, but what was being done to Bucky when he was segregated from the rest of the troops and strapped to the table?Leave a comment:

No Nick Fury in the Howlers but they did have Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones, Jim Morita, Jacques Dernier and added Montgomery Falsworth (who becomes Union Jack).
Morita and Dernier are not generally recognized as core members of the Howling Commandos....At best I think they made minor appearances in a
few stories.
The more well known Commandos like "Rebel" Ralston, "Izzy" Cohen, Dino
Manelli, "Pinky" Pinkerton, and "Junior" Juniper aren't in the film from what I could tell...Leave a comment:

I was wondering if that was Nick Fury too, but I think it was Gabriel Jones, the original African American Howling Commando (and the first AA hero in a mainstream comic book).
As for Cap not fighting actual Nazis, he may have done some of that off screen. I'm sure they had to plow through some of them to get to these hidden Hydra bases. Europe was lousy with Nazis back then.

Loved the film! but can any die hard Cap fan tell me if they got the Howling Commando's right? Was that supposed to be Nick Fury Sr there in the team? Because Cap didn't recoginze Sam Jackson.
My only real complaint was they started it out too late in '43 and then had him disappear too early as well. It's also funny that he didn't fight any nazi's in WW2.
Considering studio's only think in trilogies nowadays( Thank you George Lucas
) I can see how they don't think they need any more stories set in the war and can concentrate on The Avengers and possibly a modern Cap Movie or two.

^While promoting Batman Forever, Jones repeatedly referred to the fact that he took the job at the insistence of his grandson, and it was obvious he looked at the whole thing as a cartoon, so I think his interpretation was partially based on that. Oddly enough, many of the guest-villains on the 60s Batman TV series took the job based on their children or grandchildren begging them to do it.
I'm not letting Schumacher off the hook. They both messed up Batman's most tragic villain!

as two face i don't even blame jones. either the director or the writers (maybe it was jones) had him play it comically. that movie already had a comical bad guy -it need a maniacal straight one.Leave a comment:

Ah come on guys. You gotta have the old gruff guy who spouts one-liners. It's the Eastwood factor!!! I liked Jones in this much better than his other manistream comic movie! Two-Face anyone?

I was OK with TLJ until he gave the "I'm not gonna kiss you." line. Just to glib considering the situation.yes, she was great where so many love interests before have just been wrong (batman begins topping the list - maybe superman returns but it had bigger problems than love interest)
i wasn't even bothered by kid actors or sidekicks in this film.
often i watch movies only to be ripped out of the action when the second stringers come on scene. the only actor in this that fell short for me is tommy lee jones. he was fine but came across too much as tommy lee jones rather than his character.Leave a comment:

I'm inclined to AGREE..
Oh, and can we PLEASE have a nice round of applause for Ms. Atwell..:
She was wonderful..
Worked very well with Tommy Lee Jones' scene-stealing one-liners, especially the 'Well, I AIN'T GONNA KISS YA..' line..
I'm in love.

^Yep, Falsworth was the surname of the first two Union Jacks, Spitfire...and Baron Blood!!!

I noticed in the credits that that on eof the characters last names was "Falsworth". If i am not mistaken this is the original Union Jack.Leave a comment:

I'm carrying such a crush on Atwell right now. She was awesome. Hope they bring her back as Sharon Carter.
It's been a few days since I saw it and I have some stray thoughts on the movie.
I finally have a voice for Cap. When I read Supeman, I hear Bud Collier. When I read Batman, I hear the Batman voice actor from Graphic Audio (Can't remember his name, sorry). Even though I've heard Cap in numberous toons & audio, I never had a voice for him. I think part of the problem is that the voices used were to painfully ernest. Thanks to Chris Evans, Cap now has a voice.
The last couple of movies I've seen (All Star Superman, and Captain America) have been about good men. After over a decade of men being portrayed as baffoons and over grown children (I'm looking at you Tim Allen & Will Ferrell) it's good to see "men" portrayed on the big screen.
Did anyone else get a Max Von Sydow vibe from Hugo Weaving?
I want an SSR t-shirt!Leave a comment:
