I would be inclined to say "Superman:The Movie"....but it's not perfect either...I've always had a problem with their version of Krypton and Jor-El, ever since I first saw it as a kid. Still, even with that said I still think I'd go with it as most faithful. I could watch it again and again and still get that thrill of a first time viewing.Think OUTSIDE the Box! Okay, repeating most of these but...(in no particular order)
1) Superman The Movie: Perfect marriage of actor and character and the costume was dead-on
2) Spider-Man: Very little change, just enhancing the look a bit.
3) Iron Man: Another perfect marriage of actor and character, and the suit actually looks convincing!
4) The Phantom: Zane nailed it. The costume was tweaked a bit, but kept the feel of the strips
5) Rocketeer: Billy Campbell looks like he stepped off of Dave Stevens sketchbook!
6) X-Men: Lots of great casting in these. Jackman is too tall, but other than that a perfect Wolverine. Marsden as Cyclops and Stewart as Prof X are other highlights. Storm, not so much. I know, their costumes are not comic accurate, but they all switched so many times before and sense, it doesn't seem to matter as much now.
7) Wonder Woman: Lynda Carter is another perfect marriage of character and actor. I pity the new girl! At least those following in Chris Reeve's footsteps could join the company of other previous Supermen, there's only been one real WW!!!
8)Batman 66: West and Ward are pitch perfect as the Silver Age Dynamic Duo. If they'd played it straight, they would rocked it too.
9) The Hulk: Bixby made a great Banner, and I still believe Ferrigno better than any CGI blob monster.
10) Hellboy: Not a huge fan of the comics, but even I know they nailed it all around. Perleman is one funny guy.
11) SHAZAM! Jackson Bostwick made a great Captain Marvel. He looked like an updated CC Beck drawing come to life. He really believed in the role, much like his friend...
12) The Lone Ranger: Clayton Moore LIVED the part. He modified it a bit from the radio show, and really created the actual image of the Ranger we all think of.
13) Batman Begins/The Dark Knight: Bale is the best modern Batman bar none. He actually looks the part, and is believable in the physical and psychological aspects of the role. He looks like Neal Adam's Bruce Wayne.
The Incredible Hulk (2008): Norton did a fine job. The CGI was better than the previous movie. I only wish Norton would return...
The Shadow: Not a bad movie. Baldwin was good in it. That one scene where they show his rubber nose sans scarf still sticks out at me though...

John Davey as Captain Marvel (too flabby and kind of clueless acting)
Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl
George Clooney as Batman (although he could have played it well, with a different direction)
Clinton Spillsbury as the Lone Ranger : I think the rest of this movie is great. But it all falls apart with a guy who can't act. They even dubbed his voice in!!!

Ya know....I think there always WILL be only one real Wonder Woman...the "new girl" doesn't stand a chance of wiping out the image of Lynda Carter that is burned in my retina.

I was thinking about this the other day....I was watching the Lone Ranger DVD Boxed Set and I was watching the Lassie bonus episode he guest-appeared on...You could tell that Clayton Moore really and truly enjoyed being the Lone Ranger. It's a shame he was treated horribly in his twilight years when they wouldn't let him wear the mask because of the Spillsbury film. The dude WAS The Lone Ranger...I don't think there will ever be any one actor as identified with a super-hero role as he was. It seemed like he lived and breathed the role even when the cameras weren't rolling. A true class act IMO.12) The Lone Ranger: Clayton Moore LIVED the part. The only thing about Bale that grates on me after repeated viewings is his growl...I know it's required but it's a little TOO much. Keaton growled too but his wasn't as laughable. Since the Flash and Batman TV shows are fair game, I want to give it up for my favorite Superman...
Loved watching Reeves, he played Supes perfect, like he was having fun smashing thru walls and bending pistols and crowbars. And his Kent was the best, never to be equaled.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

More votes for Reeve Superman, Carter Wonder Women, Downey Jr. Iron man, and McGuire Spider-Man. Would also add Watchmen into that. I sadly just finished out my third season set of WW so it will be awhile before I'm ready to start over and watch them again.Comment

Yeah, I loves that Grayson trailer! I hope that guy Fiorella goes on to make some Superhero films too.
1) Superman - Chris Reeve was my generation's Superman. This film is near perfect.
2) Iron Man - Great because they only changed the menace in the origin from Commies to Taliban-like terrorists. A very good adaptation. The Mk II/MkIII suit is more modern but we expected that.
3) Spider-Man - I wish the Goblin had been around for at least 2 films but Doc Ock is pretty good and on target.
4) X-2 - This is how the X-Men should act, should work and the pace is faster than the first film. Hints of all the other teams that exist are in this film. Oh how good it could've been if #3 had been better and spawned spin-offs.
5) The Rocketeer - If Disney had not been a bunch of jerk-wads interfering with the film, and released it as Touchstone instead, this film would have been better and rated higher.
6) Hellboy 2 - He doesn't sport his hooves in the films but it's a minor thing. The films still need more Mignola influence tho.
7) Batman, (1989) - for all it's flaws I love this film. Burton's style is a bit too simplistic in this film but still captures a realistic Batman.
8) Batman-The Dark Knight - Nowlan's Batman takes it further. This film looks like a Neal Adam's 1970's Batman film.
9) Watchmen - Maybe Zach Snyders desire to stay too close to the comic stiffened up the pic. Still they all look good and behave as Watchmen.
10) Justice League/JLU (TV Series) - This is a great mesh of comic and realism. The balance is just right. These guys should have been given live action films to produce.

I do think the 80's Flash Gordon film captured the look of the comic. Completely missed the tone, but it had the look. Iron Man was pretty good. The armour was a little too Knight Sabers, but other than that it wasn't bad. This one is freakily close to the source too:

I can't believe I left out George Reeves. Although Chris Reeve is my generation's Superman, you just can't discount the affable strength George brought to the role. A more fatherly Superman, who wasn't above roughing some guys up if they needed it. I kind of think of him as the Earth 2 Superman!
Oh, and Buster Crabbe IS Flash Gordon. Perfect casting.
