Hector, Adam West when he played Batman was 6'2 200 pounds
    Batman comics is 6'2 210

West had a fit physique especially for the time. so no he wasn't thin just not
    diesel....

Clark Bartram who is closer to what the modern Batman looks like, is 6'3 and 240 pounds of muscle. most accurate Batman ever!!!!!

              the comic version came first...

I think one of the only times the comic version pretty much cinched the casting of the movie version. After his cameo in Iron Man, Marvel Studios pretty much had to cave to Jackson's demands. Can you imagine them having to go to court with Jackson's lawyer's armed with Bryan Hitch's Ultimates comics?

and I like Sam Jackson better than the hoff in this role.

In terms of appearance I don't think you can beat Dick Tracy. Character after character looked like they'd stepped right out of the comic strip. The casting was perfect (R.G Armstrong as Pruneface, Henry Silva as Influence, Ed O'Ross as Itchy, etc.).

Of course, it goes without saying you have to delete Warren Beatty from the equation before you can say that. (Where was his prosthetic make-up? )

^I was going to mention Dick Tracy, but Beatty is all wrong in the role. Everyone else (except Madonna) is great.

I remember reading back when the film came out that Beatty had wanted to wear at least a prosthetic nose, but the studio wouldn't let him -- they were paying for Warren Beatty to star, and wanted him to look like Warren Beatty.

I'll say, it's a movie whose spirit and intentions and genuine affection for the source material have really made it grow on me over the years.

Ah, that makes sense -- that endears me more to Beatty then. Still, I wish studios wouldn't be so skittish about that kind of thing. I love how Al Pacino completely transformed into someone else in that movie, and it would be nice if the money men would let the "big movie star" leads try that kind of stuff, as well.

I heard practically the same story about Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow. He wanted to have a pointier "Ichabod Crane" nose, but they told him no.
