Kind of utilitarian, but appropriate. It may only be temporary, but the cross strap blocking the chest star has to go. the star should always be prominantly displayed.

Kinda reminds me of SuperPro, the greatest crime-fighting superhero the NFL ever produced:

I also agree that when he's thawed out, the costume will probably be updated somewhat.
It does bug me when the costumes are changed too much for the movies.
But for the frontlines of WW2, I guess that version is practical while also retaining the essence of the original suit, which is important.
Reminds me a little of the Ultimates version.Last edited by Bruce Banner; Jan 14, '11, 5:27 AM.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

Brand recognition is important here and that seems to be lost in the process. All I can say is that better be one heck of a trailer. They've got a lot of selling to do. They have to sell it not only to fans but to the general population. If there's a modern version of this outfit, it needs to show up pretty soon too. The studio has already said the story will switch between past and current events. So if he has a modern outfit, it should have descent film time here.Last edited by MIB41; Jan 14, '11, 8:36 AM.Comment

I really like it...way better than the new Spidey costume. People seem to forget, first and foremost, Cap is a SOLDIER. It just makes sense to put him in some type of combat fatigues. Cap may be superhuman, but he still needs to carry tools and supplies, provisions, etc. I think the way they recreated the red stripes with straps is actually pretty damn clever.
There's no mistaking this guy is Cap, but it's also evident he's a soldier.Comment

I like it. It's not a slam-dunk but I like it. They could have gone with the far more reserved Ultimates WWII costume, which cool in it's own right, doesn't deserve to be the only interpretation of Cap seen on screen.
I do think it's kind of funny that they changed the suit to make it more functional looking, apparently to go with the WWII setting, when Simon and Kirby created the original suit DURING WWII. If two Jewish kids from Brooklyn could conceive it, why not the US military?
But either way, I like it. It looks more Cap than I feared.

I don't hate it, but I too think the red straps for the red stripes is clever. I think that he'll probably wind up with a new suit (although I will assume it will be a modified verion of this and not a spandex one) and I bet you it will be an after the credits thing where he meets Tony Stark or something like that. It's all good!Comment

I LIKE IT!!And for those upset about the Earwings...there they are!
Bare in mind People, this is WW2 era Cap...and they're probably thinking in the the Mind-set of...what could they do with the technology of the times.
I'm willing to bet, that once they thaw him out in the Avengers...that his Costume will be updated to modern times.

Here's a list: Kirk Alyn, Tom Tyler, Lewis Wilson, George Reeves . . . what do they have in common that's tangential to this conversation?
Perhaps someone from our audience can chime in?Comment
