Hmmm. The movie interpretation of the Red Skull is more true to the comics. This may work. I guess my problem here is everything is SO functional looking, there is almost no space for him to appear like a superhero. They should have just called him Captain Straps. I don't hate it. But I'm not overly crazy about it either. I think they just got a tad too conceptualized with him. And if their going to protect his head with a helmet, why would they leave his neck exposed?

Truer words were never spoken. This is what they do to ALL of them now... They're so concerned with the "reality" of these movies these days, that the magic of what makes these characters so special in the first place, is pretty much gone.

I LIKE IT!! And for those upset about the Earwings...there they are! Bare in mind People, this is WW2 era Cap...and they're probably thinking in the the Mind-set of...what could they do with the technology of the times.

I'm willing to bet, that once they thaw him out in the Avengers...that his Costume will be updated to modern times.

                  Me, too!

I have to say, though, that I basically like this suit & am pleased, too, with the casting.

I'm very pleased to see the "A" & wings, even if only painted.

("Captain Straps"--priceless! I'm going to steal that one when I tease my friend [a total Cap-fanboy] about the movie.)

True in a broad sense--but I'm grateful that he's not in a blue scuba suit.

I loved the mostly traditionalist "The Phantom" with Zane, but it was critically panned & did poor domestic business. "The Shadow" like-wise. So of course Hollywood is not going to give us more of that type of film.

Could "Superman" even get made today?

I like it just fine for WW2 era Cap. If they crap it up for 21st century Cap I'll be disappointed.

Sandy, why the h*ll didn't they involve you in this movie?! You could have made the PERFECT Cap'. I don't even have to think about it. A no-brainer.

I dunno.... them straps look like they'd hinder arm movement, and don't serve any real practical use.

                            Exactly.

That costume is age correct to WWII...and like you said...it will probably get modernized when he's thawed in the present...

Does nothing for me. I mean if you want reality then forget a superhero movie. If they can come up with a "super soldier serum" that will within minutes transform a man into near perfection physically then reality is out the window anyway. If they do update it later on in the movie then I can compromise and live with it.
