I did list Keaton as my third favorite Batman...but you can't dispute the fact that he was quite a small Batman.

I could write an essay, I might later, but http://www.batman-on-film.com is a great site for batman news.
Bob Kane said he liked the Batsuit in 1989. He said it was more like what he thought.
I haven't seen Dead End in a long time but IT ROCKED!!! I thought the suit would have to be chain mail or something though, but it could be done I agree.
I played DC Heroes in the 80s, a paper RPG and I had a Batman character. He had body armor. He could fly. He had a radio in his helmet. This was before Tim Burton so I was OK with the suit having designed a Batman from scratch sort of.
I didn't like the gravel voice in Dark Knight either.
I like Batman being a serious movie. I think I posted elsewhere that I liked the Untold Legend of Batman and I would have liked to have done that film.
I am sad to report that I did go to "film school" and graduate in a timeline that, under other circumstances, could have had me working on Batman, Superman and Star Trek movies. Even James Bond. I had the timing right. But I'll stop here before I start drinking...
But I should add that the Batman cartoon ca. 1994 was awesome and really looked like a sequel to Burton's Batman. I think they used the same theme music. I will have to get that on DVD. I didn't watch much of it. It was much better than Returns, Forever and Batman and Robin... even without having watched it all I think I'm safe to say that.
I loved Adam West... as a kid but Batman is a serious story. His parents were killed in front of him. The 60s show is amusing and funny but it is not Batman as I appreciate him.-

Interesting fact about this Picture...Keaton is standing on a Box, because Burton didn't want Batman to look smaller than the Joker.

When Keaton was cast I thought he could do Bruce Wayne(watch the drama Clean and Sober he was great in that part) but just couldn't figure how the hell he would pull off Batman. The Armor answered that.
The Armor was to make him bigger than life. Burton didn't factor in that Keaton is a small man. He just said that he knew Keaton wouldn't hesitate to get into that costume.
Funny I think Keaton now is in way better shape than when he played Batman in 89.Last edited by kingdom warrior; Nov 26, '10, 11:47 AM.Comment

When it comes down to it.... His Voice is the Voice I hear in my head when I read books . He's the Staple Batman Voice for sure. I wish DC Would just keep this guy on the pay role until he dies, I don't ever wanna hear another Batman cartoon Voice Ever.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .Comment

I think Tim Burton certainly accounted for the billionaire detached persona with Michael Keaton. His wealth gave him the women as anyone with money can tell you. Staying away from the stereotype look was actually quite clever for it's day. You have to remember, the hero genre was still in it's infancy at that stage, so studios and the general public were not ready to see someone buffed out running around in tights. It was not a proven commodity being cranked out constantly like it is today. Expectations are entirely different today.Comment
