Again, this has major spoilers so don't read if you don't want to know.
In a showdown with Darkseid, Batman is hit by an Omega Beam and dies. Of course, comic deaths aren't what they once were but this has fully sent me into comicdom old fogeyism. I've pretty much expected this anyway so I've already taken Batman and Detective out of my pull box and started to, instead, collect my Batman, namely #200-400 (my early reading didn't comprise all of that span but it seemed like a nice, round number.
I used to love DC but after what Didio has done (and from what I read, DC is very much top down directive) I think I'm down to two comics: Birds of Prey and Secret Six. I get BoP out of habit since Simone left and it's about to fold anyway. I'll keep getting Secret Six until the higher ups screw it up as well. (A caveat is that I like what I've read of Green Lantern in the trades.) Am I being a reactionary fanboy? Probably, but the storytelling on DC comics has went downhill fast (there's other problems as well but storytelling is so major).

) is that it took 6 credited artists to illustrate this rag (I'm assuming some were inkers only but you get the point). Obviously, no one checked with each other on what they were drawing. But this is no excuse as the same thing went on when just JG Jones was the artist. So the fault more than likely probably lies with Morrison's plotting or lack thereof. From the get-go, I've felt I was only getting like a 3rd of the story with each issue I've read. A 7-issue hack job this has been, most definitely.
