I'm doing a big Superman project as well. My friend moved in to a new house and came across a fake crystal chandelier which he then gave to me so I could make a Fortress of Solitude. I'm making the main room with the crystal computer thing he uses. I'm trying to figure out how to light it and also make a big Jor'El head.

Oh man...what a great idea...I wanna see pictures...you should start a thread too...would love to see how that turns out...awesome...looking forward on seeing that...

Kinda leaning towards that too...I think they will pop more than just all around gold on gold...

The globe itself will not illuminate...however...I'll see if I can accent it with some adjacent lighting...

I agree,laser or water jetted letters would be the way to go.Looking around earlier i found this place.They say no job to small,have a variety of materials/finishes to choose from and they could do the letters exactly as pictured,dont know about the price,but this place or one like it could do the ring and letters and would definately be the way to go.http://letterama.com/

I don't like sites where you have to email/call them a quote...that means they are expensive as heck...I know...because I did that with a couple of other companies that offer similar services...the price I was given...almost knocked me off my feet...lol. Plus, you don't get a direct quote...a representative has to go over the order with you...lol.

I found one that gives out the prices right then and there...and discovered they were the most reasonably priced custom letters company...I'm going with them.

However...I do much appreciate the heads up...thanks for helping me out...




There's a sign/letter mom & pops store here in Oakland (they make lots of custom letters except laser cutting)...

Yep...they will be lasercut letters...pricey...but you only live once...
