The Doctor is absolutely amazing! I'm a little disappointed by Styre's skin tone, but I think a wash of ink would fix that up nicely. (Might need to make him a pair of 3-fingered glove hands.)
Just want to say a huge THANKS to all who've said such nice things about the DW figs. Bones, great to hear you're so pleased that you need seconds! Now THAT'S a compliment!
But I wanted to address AcroRay on one quick detail: hard to believe/remember, since the Beeb and WHO team were so consistent with the Sontarans for the most part (except for the awful jumping the shark masks from 'Invasion of Time'), but 'The Sontaran Experiment' is actually the only Sontaran story that features a soldier with five fingered hands. Luckily for us, since we didn't have to make new hands for the figure, and could instead use the regular Mego hands. It's also the only story to feature those pistols in the classic series, think they always used the 'wands' in all the other stories. So, you COULD still make those cute 'lil 3-fingered gloves, but it wouldn't be within story continuity! Just wanted to save you from extra work if it wasn't needed! And thanks for the kind words, too!

Why thank you, sir. Like I said, I've been waiting a LONG time for these beauties. Just wait til you see what we have planned that we haven't announced yet. We're going to get 'em right!
Glad to hear! I hope we see it in the merchandise! I am a Dr. Who fan...but I was a Lost and Flash fan who was sorely disappointed in the look and quality of your products. I really wish the attention to detail was as rigid as Zica's!
Well it's unfortunate you feel that way, jetzjungle. You're definitely in the minority on those feelings, we did very well with them. And people love what we did with them, too. As for FG, I worked closely with Alex Ross on all of those, and being the stickler he is, when HE was happy I was happy! Hopefully you'll join us on the WHO journey, but if not, maybe we'll do something down the road you WILL dig!
Just look at that Master's head!!! That is stunning! Thanks for posting these. That's what I wanted to see... I'm so anxious to get my set! Are these rotocast (squishy) heads?

The 7" Flash especially showed Ross' influence. I don't know who sculpted those figures, but they were dead-on in reflecting his art. The only complaint I could have with the line is three versions of Flash and no Vultan. Seriously, I'd love to see you make more figures like this, especially since they were in scale with Ross' DC Direct Justice line of figures.
Hey torgospizza, believe me, I would have LOVED to have continued the FG line until we had everyone but the damn airplane pilots, but the support just wasn't there. We kept the license going for a couple of years longer than we'd originally planned, just so we could get to Barin and the gang. It's funny, FG is one of my all time favorite movies, and all the emails we'd get requesting more characters seemed to say that the film was loved more than in the 'cult' sense. Then we'd release the figures, and while they DID sell, it took a while to move the secondary characters. And we're only talking about a minimum of about 2-3000 pieces. There just wasn't enough support. (And we're finding a similar story with the Venture Brothers 3 3/4" plan. As vocal as the fans are, and as much as they say they want them, there just may not be enough fans on the planet to make it happen).
Just for the record, my plan for Wave 3 of 'Flash Gordon' was: Vultan, Ming in Military Uniform, Kala and the Red Guard with the round mouth. The license did NOT include the likenesses of Ornella Muti or Topol, so we'd never have been able to make Aura or Zarkov.
Ross and I also discussed the possibility of making a Thun the Lion Man, as he SHOULD have appeared in the film. But Alex felt that as a 'Prince Thun' appeared and was killed in the throne room, that it wasn't within continuity. I also wanted to make the Hawkman Rocket Sled, as a Build a Figure project, but alas, it would have been very expensive, and, well, the third wave never happened. On a personal note, however, a guy in the UK is having a custom garage kit made of the sled and I've ordered one. So that's close enough!
^^ Wow!! These couple of paragraphs deserve their own thread.
hard to believe the support was not there for the FG 7" figures, but then it is also hard to believe the 4' VB line is sitting at 10% support or whatever on the gottagettit meter.
So, go figure.
Thanks for making the 8" VB figures. I hope the support is there to carry this line for a LONG time. Same with the Doctor Who line. We originally had 6 characters from this show in the Denys Fisher line. We already have 4 from BBP and an additional 4 in the works. Beyond awesome!! I'm buying them up - keep 'em coming.
