It's really kind of ironic and a little grating that Mattel treats these things as state secrets. I mean, it's not like any other company is going to be able to make a cloth-costumed, 8-inch Retro Robin figure and not get sued into oblivion. Notice how "Star Wars" by Hasbro has at least released the list of what's in store for most of 2011 and a few ideas about who's next in 2012. It'd be nice to see a gradual outpour of stuff like first shot head sculpts or maybe one figure of the four confirmed every few months.
“As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery… we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness.” - The Dalai Lama

I am guessing Joker is likely to be released with Robin and think about the biggies left I think its safe to believe those two are in either wave 5 or 6.

I would expect to only see wave 5.....last year they only showed one new wave...Wave 4 is the start of 3 waves per year

so, expect to see wave 4 carded and then the wave 5 prototypes (likely june/july release)...wave 6 will be shown at SDCC

Part of it is company culture. Toy companies have LONG behaved this way towards research and product development (especially in the gaming area). Another aspect, and one that Mattel states quite often, is that they do not want any premature information getting out in case changes are made in product, packaging, price, assortment mix or the distribution point of purchase (read store). That makes some sense, but their degree of KGB approach towards this is sometimes questionable, and amusing.

            Regards,

            Geoff

My Magic 8 Ball seems to indicate wave 5 and 6 being "shown" at TF as "Outlook Good". Having them get to the stores (as shown) gives a "Cannot Predict Now" response.

if they show wave 6, then they will have nothing to show for SDCC (like last year's wave 3)

based on release pattern and 3 waves a year...dont hold your breath on wave 6 shown..

                  2011
                  wave 4- feb/march
                  Wave 5- June/july
                  wave 6-oct/nov

                  my 8-ball says 'definitely'

I agree with you all in the fact that I can't wait to see what this line displays at ToyFair next month!! I hope they get back to the Superfriends Theme, as I've been watching those old cartoons and would love to get my Legion of Doom filled up. I never thought I'd be so excited about a current toy line. I didn't even really get excited about this line when I first heard about it, I was kind of wait and see, but when Wave 2 came out with Black Manta and Batman, I decided to go for it, and now I'm so hooked! I'm totally hoping for Robin and The Riddler ala the Superfriends for the next wave. Fingers Crossed!!

                      Valid points..

but there's something in my gut rumbling that we may see two "comp" waves. (And I didn't eat my 8 ball, I don't think.. )

                      Regards,

                      Geoff

I agree with you CollectorDave, but to a degree. I think if they do a Riddler, they should model him after the 70's comic books, not necessarily the Super Friends version. He should have question marks all over him, not just one on his chest. I think if we start involving TV series incarnations of characters the line will become too convoluted in my opinion. Having said that, I am a HUGE "Challenge Of The Super Friends" fan though!

I for one would like to see the entire Legion Of Doom made. I agree that Riddler should have a bunch of question marks all over his uniform.

Definitely he should. These are comicbook characters from the
BRONZE AGE that APPEARED in television's LOD... not the other
                            way around. (as LOU said)

And... Mark.... great to see ya around.... re: your statement,
as geoff explained, it's "Pre-emptive damage control".

I think it is silly to make these look like how they appeared for ONE season in a tv show instead of how they looked for decades in the comics. Riddler needs the ???? all over his suit and longer gloves. I always hated the orginial Mego with just purple hands. I personally don't care to see all the LOD members. I think Joker,Penguin,Catwoman etc who didn't appear in the LOD are more important characters in DC Comics rich history of major foes. There are a few more members of the LOD I think are a must. Brainiac,Riddler and Grundy especially. I really want these three. I have always thought Brainiac was Superman's best villian (after Luthor)

Agreed 110%, I couldn't have said it better myself. As I said, I absolutely adore "The Challenge Of The Super Friends" series but I don't think it should be used as a basis for character models for this line. Correct me if I'm wrong here but Riddler was really the only character on the show whose costume was different than the comics right? Didn't eveyone else in the Legion Of Doom pretty much have 70's comic accurate costumes anyway?
Here's the style Riddler I would love to see in the Retro line...
