    cast in green

The production head is cast in vinyl (not rubber) in the color you see - just
like MEGO heads. The prototypes are hand painted.

Nah, it's an easy mistake. Often hard to tell them apart under all that make up. Easiest way to tell is Glenn had a slightly thinner more weathered looking face.

Going by the pics first posted, the Frankenstein head doesn't look too much like Glenn Strange to me. It looks almost as generic as the Wolfman head.

that's actually the intention, as mego would have hardly gone for exact likeness of the actor versus a generically accepted version of the character. the glenn strange likness provided us the best opportunity.

it is, however, more the later glenn strange than the earlier, thinner one.

plus, in production it seems the head came out a touch wider than sculpted.

but in general, can everyone please agree that these things look leagues beyond megos originals? i mean, their frankenstein looks like bizarro and leo g. carroll in "tarantula" had a baby.

I think the Universal Monsters look great. I'm totally psyched for them.

Oh, I can agree on that 100%! These look really well done so far. Can't wait to see them in the comic shops.

I know all about how Universal works with their likeness. I'm sure they couldn't work a deal with Ron Chaney or Bela Jr for that matter. Both are very hard to work with: they want too much $$$. That's why for years Universal Monster products have been on the generic side.

                            Joe,

Those are absolutely brilliant. Another fine job by EMCE and BBP Toys. Keep up the great work. Most of us appreciate the effort and lines for this hobby.
I hope someday the Gill-Man with surface as an EMCE toy. A major hole in the 8" Monster line.

Sorry, but I won't. Mego Mad Monsters weren't meant to be Universal Monsters. While what you are doing is nice I'm not compairing them to Mego. It's apples and oranges.

I have to concur with Scott here. These are very cool Universal Monsters and I am really enjoying seeing them. However, the Megos with the glow bits and all are a different beast altogether and (aside from the ctvt repros) I don't think I could compare them to any other monster toy line.
