My feeling is these are going to be fun to collect regardless. You either want them or you don't. Nothing wrong with feeling either way. This is obviously a way to help draw more interest to the film , and unless they are absolutely terrible I thnk we may be pleasantly surprised. Not a huge GL fan myself, but Its got me curious. I do Think I'd have gone with more main stream characters as Matty exclusives each month , but hey it is what it is, and we get to be excited to see the way Robin, Blue Beetle, Hawkman, Dr fate, Plastic Man, Firestorm, Joker , Penguin, etc etc, will look like eventually. Sounds like Toy Fair and Comic Con excitement for sometime to come.....hopefully the line lasts.

I am personally excited about the retro lines. Heroes , dark shadows, Bif Bang Pow's , and the GB , It feels like Mego is still around pumping out 8" figs. I have a feeling Mego would have done GB and on the 8 " body too if one they were still cranking out product , and two knew the success the films would have brought.

That is a good point. However, Famous Covers figures were leaving a bad taste in Megoheads' mouths before they even got halfway through that release list. I think we were all very excited that something "Mego-like" was on the shelves and it blinded us, somewhat, to the fact that a lot of the characters looked a little too cheesy or wonky... and not in a quaint retro-simplistic way.

I also think that despite Famous Covers' wonky appearance, they did do something right. If I remember correctly, all of Marvel's A-listers were released near the beginning of the line. I don't think FC would have had the legs it did if they had padded the initial releases with alot of lesser known characters. So many "must have" characters probably gave the line some momentum that it might not have had, otherwise.

I hope you're right. I also hope that what in effect constitutes an entire wave of "who?" characters doesn't sink the line. If the GL movie is a "disappointment" at the BO, these guys will be slow movers, giving the Marketing Dept. suits the impression that enthusiasm for the line has dwindled.

All I know is that I'll no longer be a completist after Wave 3 or 4. Shame, but my wallet will be happier.

Besides, if the bubble is too small for Batmans pointy ears, how is Hawkman going to fit?
Using that logic, we'll see an Etrigan any day now, right? He's been in more eps than Guy, and is one HELL of a character

As for Hawkman, Vacuform blisters come in all different shapes and sizes these days.

I totally agree with that statement. To each their own. Mattel or any company is never going to be able to please every one of us without upsetting someone about this or that some where along the line.

I do not agree with EVERYTHING that I am seeing either.

I for one am just glad to see that we are moving forward and getting some new figures. Even if everyone does not agree with the choices that are being made. I like to think that something is better than nothing.

The choice is real simple. Buy them if you like them or pass on them if you don't want them. Maybe sooner or later Mattel and like companies will come around to your way of thinking.

Most companies have 1-800 consumer phone numbers. Call them up, go to their web sites, post on their blog and or e-mail them and tell them what you want to see. Put your two cents in where it matters the most. If enough people do this then I would not see any reason why you should not get what you want in time.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

At the very least, we're getting THE FLASH, a figure I've been waiting for over 30 years.

I am thankful for that and the Hal GL.

Um....actually, why not? Aside from the odd shaped body he has, he does fit the retro theme, being a 70's character and all for everyone who was unhappy about seeing modern characters. And thanks to B&B, I'll bet as many kids know Etrigan as they know Hawkman. So the question remains: Why did Mattel pick these characters? If it's based on TV appearances then BRING ON ETRIGAN!!

Perhaps you should read this. I'm not so stupid that I think plastic can only be made in one shape:

Here is MegoScott's pics. Check out that Maguire-like expression on Guy's face!

I know folks think the oversized boots ain't cool, but it's just like the klunky ones he wore back in the 80's.

Now all we need is a Fist Fighter Batman! "ONE PUNCH!"

Here's Sinestro. This was the costume I was hoping for (along with the GL outfit with Mask).

"Retro Action" means style of the figure (old school...70's)....not era of a character......this line will have something of interest for all ages
As far as why the B list characters so soon....why should Mattel make the icons all at the same time....they what to keep them spaced out over time and keep people looking for them in the coming years (and they will be around for a while)
GL corps makes perfect sense for exclusives...there are many who want them but not enough to justify store stock levels.
If Mattel learns one thing from wave one.....it's that heroes sell better than villains...villains are still wanted but in smaller quantities than heroes.....so it may just come to be that future wave villains will disappear from pegs... not to be replaced.
                              "Thats the ticket laddie"

Well I read it, and frankly, I'm disgusted. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in a career of witnessing lame-brained corporate decisions. I apologize for being so sarcastic with you, Crimson. How Dr. Mego puts up with these dolts is beyond comprehension.

What's so maddening about this is the fact that Mattel has fantastic ideas coupled with terrible follow through, and abhorrent distribution.

                                Here's a perfect example:
The good - DARKSEID (brilliant idea - quintessential villain debuts in Retro format.)
The bad - No new body tooling - standard body will be filled out with plush muscles, and figure will be same height as all the others (Darkseid is almost 9' tall in the DCU.) This figure will then be squeezed into the standard blister. This I could live with (like Hulk back in the day,) were he to have a sculpted body.
