I like Guy Gardner Green Lantern in the Retro Line. Brings me back to his adventures in JLI with Batman.

), really appreciate the level of detail you put into him to make him look like his 80's JLI incarnation. From the oversized belt with chains, to the chunky books, to the comical bowl cut, down to a facial expression reminiscent of Kevin Maguire's artwork.
Big Kudos Doc!
I honestly never thought in a million years that this figure would be made so soon out of the starting gate. Now my dreams of a flocked G'Nort (the Other One True Green Lantern) don't seem nearly as ludicrous as they once were. He's been on Brave and Bold and the kids seem to dig him!
More colour corps would be fun too... Larfleeze the Orange Lantern!Comment

I don't care if the suit SINESTRO wears in modern day is
the most beautiful thing since Tarzan's loincloth....
if ain't from the Bronze Age, I can't rationalize buying it.
Now... I also know I have the power to "pass"...believe me!
BUT...
...if YELLOW SINESTRO had been in Wave One, I think it would've been
such a rotten message to the "retro" direction Mattel had/has claimed
to be taking this, that i don't know how long the shock woulda been stuck
on me until I recovered and considered other purchases from the line.
I still would've eventually caved, mind you"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I have to say that I wanted to go with yellow costume Sinestro in wave 1.
I think it's a much better looking costume than the circus outfit he wore
in the 60s and 70s.
I also have to say that I am not a fan of Guy Gardner so I had a hard
time spending so much time and effort on him.sigpicComment

I also prefer the yellow costume on Sinestro. It's just so much nicer and makes waaaaaay more sense. I know it's a retro line but sometimes you just have to go with what's nicer.
You know, it's ironic. The original Mego's were based on the current incarnations of the characters at that time (like that horrible Catwoman costume) and it seems everyone is stuck on the new "mego's" looking exactly like the 70's. I don't see why it's so wrong to want mego style toys based on current characters.Comment

many different opinions... reading your posts over the last couple months,
I have to say what you have posted is proof that you "can't make everyone happy." I think I've disagreed with 90% of what you've posted regarding the line.
Here's to a combined great MATTEL RAH future for both!

Hey.... no one said I was ever being "fair", right?
The only thing I can say in my defense is that my thoughts when this line
was originally was being promoted was that it was going FILL THE GAPS
IN THE OLD (MEGO) LINE. You can't do that with modern versions of the
characters. A Yellow Sinestro instead of a blue really would've been a big
F.U. IMHO.
Of course, now we have both & the problem is averted.Last edited by huedell; Jan 19, '11, 8:53 AM."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Aquaman too... BUT I can't help it when my lovebone screams "Great".
I bought them thinking I'd give 'em to someone else... and... well
That 90 percent applied to your FLASH review mostly... 'cause the
BATMAN I thought was inferior to the FLASH which I think displays great
with the original line if your're lucky enough to get one w/a darker suit
that stands well! I prefer the sculpt to many others... of course something
sculpted FROM a Mego base mighta been better... but I'm cool!
Pictures can be harsh... in the pics I picked 'em apart (And I'll continue to!), but in person, they were colorful Bronze Age looking stuff, if not tight
realistic likenesses.... they won't replace my Mego versions (I can't do
it!), but they'll display nicely on their own.
The only reason I'll continue to complain about modern figures is just to
be heard, ya know? I wanna make sure someone is speaking out for the
Bronze Age... as long as they keep putting out a certain percentage
of Bronze Age costumes AND modern versions because they'll be able
to sustain the line with more accessible versions I'll still be happy,
but if it goes 50/50 in the future, I'll be kinda bummed is all."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive.
