I'm not a big fan of that answer either, but from other posts, Doc has said he would pass the info along and I believe he once mentioned that R & D was looking into the loose legs. I'm going to hold judgment until Wave 3. (That seems like the right amount of time to be able to change large scale assembly of figures) See how those bodies are assembled before I believe this guy's glib comment really does speak for all of Mattel or not. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm getting these primarily for my kids to play with, so as long as they are happy, I'm happy ... and because of folks like me, that may be why they are not doing a body revamp. That is probably where they want the majority of the sales to come from anyway otherwise I would imagine it all being a Matty exclusive.
    It's all good!

It sucks that thye bodies have issues , but looking at the whole picture I am just glad these are even available and produced. Years ago we wished for something like these to come in to play , yeah they have their flaws but if we keep complaining , they may take that as we will not buy and cancel the line at some point. I have to wonder if that is part of the reason that things are so hush hush on wave 2 and even wave 3. Personally I don't buy these to play with , rather collect . My son has a few he is playing with and he just plays with them with no worries. Its so exciting to be a mego fan these days , so much out , and still lots coming.

I absolutely agree as well. Rather say said nothing at all rather than make people feel like they are saying screw you. I think that is why I have come to just accept the " it is what it is " Mantra. helps keep my sanity with the toy collecting hobby. lol.

I think Mattel has underestimated the importance of the issues raised on the quality of these figures. Wave one was destined to be a big hit simply due to the novelty of being able to go out and purchase a WGHS off the shelf. Continued quality issues with high end pricing will lower demand in favor of other competing eight inch licenses. Need I mention them? Notice to Mattel: Novelty over.

To me the comment also shows how little respect or understanding there is for Megos. There's this idea that Megos were crappy---and we know that's not true---their design is more innocent or naive compared to today, but the quality of the toy itself was quite good---they worked then and they still work 35 years later. Then I think that also translates to disrespect for the end consumer---"Hey, if they like that old Mego crap they'll love this floppy thing."

That is very accurate. I think that there are a lot out there that believe it to be a poor toy produced on the cheap, but ironically decades later it is still one of the best manufactured and designed toy lines. Kudos to Marty. LOL..... Mattel has a history of poor quality , unless its Barbie, all the other toy lines have been sub par, even some of the newest lines have had flaws or defects right out of the factory / pacakage. The JLU line is most frustrating because sometimes they are painted poorly or joints are loose. The MOTUC line though has been fantastic. This is not just a observation reserved to Mattel either, Hasbro is getting just as sloppy.

I feel ya. If Rumors are true Of Flash, Captain Cold, Cheetah add those to Green Lantern, Sinestro, and Lex are we already have some great unproduced Mego's.

I really didn't care for that flippant answer, either. I don't think this guy really knows the magic that was Mego. I'm just hoping he is not the end all and be all voice of Mattel. I wonder if you asked anyone else who works for quality control what they would say. We know that Paul has our backs. But I think we need to not be ready to crucify the whole company based on one guy's poor choice of words. But if this is in fact the general feeling of Mattel Inc., then they need to do a little research into what Mego really is.

Paul, what do you have to say about all of this?
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

These Q&As are long known to be absolutely pointless and they will never reveal any actual info in them.

                          From toysnewsi:

                          Mattel QA For July 01, 2010 - Mattel - ToyNewsI.com

"First, the Q&A's don't work that way. You get to send in 5 questions and only 5 on the 1st and the 15th of each month and wait 2 weeks to get answers back. After two weeks of their people making sure nothing is said in the answers that might be two revealing and checked by corporate, they send back answers, usually filled with their corporate safe answers that don't reveal anything. You don't get to ask follow-ups until 2 weeks later and you don't even really know who is answering them

Second Mattel has already said in a Q&A that they basically won't provide any real information about their products anywhere but one of their own websites, matty, FB ect ect. Now we re-report that news so people can stay informed right here on TNI, because that's our job, keeping you all informed on all action figure lines as best as possible, but for all intents and purposes they have said on record they don't use these Q&A's to give out real product information.

Third, its not our job to try and guess what question(s) Mattel "Might" Answer or "Might" not. Our job is to ask questions our readers want to know about. If Mattel chooses not to answer those question which unfortunately in most cases is what they do, well that's there choice, and we have no way to force them to answer something, but that doesn't mean we are going to steer away from asking something cause they might not answer it.

The purpose of these Q&A's from all these companies is not to inform. When They have real information to give out, they put it out there and they don't wait to do it on these Q&A's. These Q&A's are done for basically free marketing by these companies pure and simple. They allow any 'fansite' with a url to participate and they use it to do things like promote sales of their products on their website (Free advertising). We could opt to not participate at all which believe me I've considered, but in the end sometimes what they don't say can be as informative as what they do say so we figure might as well, but I will be perfectly up front with you. If your expecting informative detailed answers from these things then your going to be disappointed every time."
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

if that was actually the case we wouldn't have any complaints vintage megos weren't wobly out of the package

the same agument could have been used by a hasbro exec in grards to the star wars lines before 2002. They worked like vintage SW figures (poor sculpts and articulation recycled kenner ship molds) and the fans complained till they improved
or the GI JOE classic collection they worked like vintage joes but had poorly made unifomrs and gear

                              hear hear! and well stated

while I believe there must be some folks at Matty and in the loop of the RA line who 'get it', I do believe the person authorized to handle the Q&A is NOT one of them.
