How About Mego Dr. Who?

We were talking to the BBC for months about it, and they could not
get out of their own red tape. We did everything we could to make
them - met every request of the BBC - and we still could not get
a definitive answer.
I expect to hear from them in six months when the Mego resurgence is
in full swing and someone at the BBC gets the idea "we should make
Dr. Who megos" and start the process all over again.
8" DW would still rock no matter what country it's released inLast edited by Tothiro; Apr 28, '10, 1:52 AM.Comment

I would KILL to get my greedy paws on Dr. Who figures! I remember back when they were being run in the USA for the first time, when I was about twelve or so.
I got a kick out of Louise Jameson's portrayal of Leela. She was the Xena of the 1970's, and to me, was a lot more fun than Xena herself.
I'd love to see Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, K-9, Leela, Romana #1, Dr. #3, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10.
Rose is a definite must.
Too bad that the BBC can't get out of the red tape, the figures would probably sell real well at DragonCon, where I saw more Whovians than Trekkies, Trekkers, etc.JediJaidaComment

I forgot to mention i was figuring out with my nephew how they should be released and i was thinking the should start with the first doctor, susan, dalek and extra villian. 4 in a set and be released 1 a week, next month next set , next doctor, companion and 2 villians, and just keep going until all doctors with outfit variants , all companions and about 70 villians are made. you could keep this going for 3 years! i would buy 1 a week easy, even if i had to skip other figures. i was just going to start making Who Customs so they better not wait too long."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

I had heard this before about the BBC. However, you give us hope!

Just wanted to pipe in, (not to not make a redundant thread post so sorry!) and say over in this post: Mego scale Doctor Who Troughton head interest? - Mego Talk I'm talking about the possibility of making some 1:6 Doctor Who heads I've commissioned from an artist making them digitally on the computer (which allows him to make them in different sizes) and also making the heads in Mego scale for you guys if there is enough interest here. Please go there and let me know!
Pics of the initial 1:6 Troughton heads printed out, awaiting sanding and cleaning up before being cast-

It gets very pricey to commission a professional sculptor. Particularly if it's a one-off item he's not going to see any future sales off of. Sean is a professional toy sculptor who's worked for Character Options and other toy companies to make things for them. You can always PM Sean (sdabbs) at Sideshow Forums and ask him directly if he's available, interested, and what he'd charge.Comment

I would love to see these, even as a small set of specialty (Diamond-type)
figures. I do understand your licensing challenges, though. Look at5 what happened with an even bigger property like POTA...
It'd be terrific to have a couple of most popular Doctors & companions, a Dalek, Cyberman, and the Master, maybe a Siluran or Davros: you could do 2 or three nice waves that way.
I'm most biased towards Baker & Pertwee...WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment
