I have to take the almost opposite argument of PeterRR, While I do dig the retro design (especially the packaging) I almost think they look "too good" I would like to see Batman with oven mitt gloves, and the boots with the mold lines. Don't get me wrong I like a good sculpt as much as the next guy (I also collect Universe Classics and a few of the DC Direct 13" for these purposes) but when it comes to the retro I like mine as close to the old school as possible, warts and all. I guess there's just no pleasing some people, though I'll probably pick up a few more in pick and choose style.Last edited by PeterRR; Apr 30, '10, 11:31 PM.Comment

I understand in keeping figures retro. But Mattel could have least tried to make a descend figure. The Boots an all are 1/8" thick and a 1/4 too long. Not one old mego had boots looking that goofy. The bodies all looked like they sat on a horse way to long. The original RM Batman blows away the new one and that was done almost 40 years ago. It looks like Mattel put no effort in the figures. Emce Apes and Star Trek were done great. And Cast-a-way is making great looking retro figures for a small company love the Phantom and the captain action stuff. I bought the Green arrow and green lantern and change the body and boots to make it look a little normal. I've been collecting toys for almost 30 years and seen junk come and go. I was in Toys R Us and heard some kids say what stupid looking Superman they laughed and put it down. Most TRU have shelves full of all the figures and they are not selling. if you guys want to see more figures complain to Mattel to make it look better because they will be marked down at TRU and closed out. And no re-orders and that we will the end of retro. Mego Made 12inch figures.
It's the Formate that Appeals to me.
A Cloth Figure.
I want the Baddest Figures in My Collection...., with the Most detail and Character likeness. Hot Toys, SideShow and DC Direct 13incher's , really set the bar Higher than before, and is what I am into, more than anything Retro in 8inch scale. Every Customizer Before Me, and custom shop, has taught me that you can just make your own. I have more fun with that, and more interest for the most part with that, than purchasing re-mego in 8inch form. If they did look like a Hot Toys figure, or a DC 13incher,... now that may be another story ofcourse.Last edited by BlackKnight; May 1, '10, 1:36 PM.... I know it's cool.
Naw seriously ..., I just disagree with aspects of your Origional Statemental Opinion ..., as far as the problem with Hot Toys and DC Direct is that they are not 8inches. IMO I like the size of them just fine.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I just stating that "what I like"...is the 8" Mego scale, that's all. There is no right or wrong here...it's simply a matter of preference.

You didn't write it as "what you like" ..., you wrote it as if it was some History Fact. Makes a difference adding your "Key Words" .... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I think I can give you a great example: I recently had to choose between commissioning you to make me a Custom Jim Lee Batman....or buy the 12" Takara Batman Begins Figure on eBay, with a "buy it now" of $149.95(MIB).,that I had been LUSTING after for a long time.
I was torn...it was a tough decision, and I'd probably never get a chance again at a price like that, for that Figure. Ultimately I had to stick with my favorite scale...and go with your Jim Lee Batman.Last edited by The Bat; May 1, '10, 3:10 PM.sigpicComment

A 12inch Batman Begins, and a Jim Lee Batman Custom 8inch figure, isn't even the same sport Bro.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
