Maybe we should tell James Cameron stop making ultra detail movies and make them more like "Toxic Avenger" with cheesy special effects and a dumb story ,what the hell tickets would cost the same or tell your favorite pizza guy stop making good pizza and use ragu sauce instead. Or telling Payton Manning to stop throwing touchdowns. There is nothing wrong with quality. Mattel can hire a better sculptor to make a better head , boot and body. What would it cost them not much or maybe nothing at all. I have a friend who make great 8" scale heads and he is unemployed. Once the head and body are made It doesn't cost them any more money to develop and mass produce the figure then the crappy ones they make now.
It was Mattel's intenion from the get-go to make RETRO looking figures, meaning those new figures could blend in perfectly with the original Mego figures.
Why don't you get that? Mattel could make superdetailed 8" cloth figures if they wanted, and maybe then you'd be happy, but they deliberately chose not to. If you don't like these retro figures just don't buy them or customize your own

Oh, and I assure you that if Mr. Cameron was called upon to make a "RETRO" movie; he wouldn't be using modern effects nearly as much.

Considering we're talking about a "RETRO" line of figures, it stands to reason that "oversculpted", in this context, refers to sculpting that looks like nothing we saw in the 1970's. This figure, although pretty awesome, suggests nothing 1970's, or "RETRO", to me. It does, however, look very similar to everything else out there for action figures NOW.

This style, in all it's UNdetailed glory, is not "oversculpted" and is a perfect "RETRO" figure...

    Hopefully I've explained myself better.

Has it ever occurred to you that what you are seeing IS what Mattel wants? It's not that they couldn't find someone better to sculpt heads or make boots or whatever. Look at the number of lines they produce. They have people who sculpt in any style they want already working for them. If they didn't want to go for a look that reflects a more simple style, they certainly wouldn't have to.

And I'm not crapping on anybody's collecting preferences either. I've just narrowed mine down to Mego & Mego scale. And "well made" Custom Mego Figures.

To me it's like saying...oh, you don't like the quality of the new Star Trek Figures...you should go and collect Star Wars Figures. Like you said...it's a completely different sport.

Basically we're both saying the same thing BK...there's no connection between 8" Figures...and 12" Figures.
I was responding to PeterRR smart guy.
