The Lex I bought had a mark on his nose, but he was the only one there, so I got him. I've left the package in my office cause I figured I would hold onto it as a future gift for my kids. As of now, no oil, but there are some marks of where his nose was leaning. I'll wait to hear what Mattel says before I give it to my kids. Anyone actually talk to customer service, yet? It's all good!Comment

Rich, if you want to say, "I told you so", just come right out and say it. We are all friends here and given your opposition to this line from day one, give us credit for being able to decipher the code in your statement. It's okay to say it if you want to.Originally posted by kryptosmasterSo what's the next defect going to be? Spontaneous combustion?
I honestly feel sorry for all of you that purchased these.
All these problems are totally unacceptable in my opinion.
There shouldn't be a "learning curve" or "practice run" or "we'll fix the problems as they show up" mentality on this.
If Chrysler put out a new car and the wheels were falling off would you just say, "Oh, they'll fix that in the next batch"?
So much potential wasted.
I really was hoping to desire these at some point but come on.
Enough is enough.
If they manage to turn this around and fix all these problems I'll be shocked.

When I was in TRU I noticed some of the figures having this problem...Sinestro always seems to be the worst....one of my carded GA's has this issue and one doesn't..my open GA is fine.....I think it's the packaging not the figures...keep your carded figures lying flat so the figure doesn't touch the bubble....and please Doc chime in on this...my guess is you will get a straight answer from Mattel...I doubt if we will

No, I meant original Megos. I was going to keep the EMCE versions of characters I already have (in the form of vintage figures) on card, just to display them in package. I haven't decided if I'll open the new characters to put with my collection or leave them carded as well.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
Check out my customs!

I need to dig out the ones I got at retail, but My Sinestro is off the card, and his card is out with no hint of any of this problem. Likewise My Green Arrow, though I haven't had him out for a week. Those two figs came from TRU.com and mattycollector.
I've got 2 each of Lex and Supes packed away that came from different TRUs, but they were fine when I got 'em. I'll have to check 'em again, but so far I have not witnessed this problem on any of my figures or their cards.
I've left one lonely Supes at retail so far, and the only other figure I've encountered in the wild, I bought.
Hopefully this isn't super-widespread, and Mattel addresses it.Comment

If this were Wave 3, they could feature it: "Wet and Wild! Watch Wonder Woman taking a shower!"
I'm also reminded of a commercial: Lynda Carter for Moisture Whip lipstick.

I found the answer! Turns out it's OUR fault!
because We can't get a straight answer from Mattel, I sought answers from a qualified professional:
The new figs are sweating due to nervousness for being scrutinized about their body flaws.
Thank you for the answer DR.PhilComment

Getting TRU involved in this might not be a bad idea. Writing them a detailed letter, and explaining that this chemical goo could end up on customers, who would not be too happy about it, might just be the way to get this issue noticed.
I may start drafting a letter now.

I can't find any place at the link you provided above to contact them via email with the details of this goo problem. I love (not really) sites that "try" to hide their contact info, makes me feel confident (not really) the problem will be resolved. Only being able to make a phone call for CS in today's world? Good grief. Also contact Mattel customer service at the 800 number on the back of
the card or go to Mattel Consumer Relations - Products, Parts, Service, Instructions, and FAQs.
If the factory did something wrong or carded the figures before they
were properly dried, Mattel would want to know about it.

I just got a set that shows some of the residue inside the blister.
We are addressing it with Mattel this week and will let everyone
know what they come back with.
Geoffdude - if you have figures with more than the clear residue
that I've seen, send me those figures and I will pay you for them.
It's hard to explain in photos and words what is going on, so I
would like to send Mattel a "bad" example so their people can
examine it.Comment

Oh Haha that is freakin' hilarious. I always feel better after a hearty laugh....thanks guys!
