    I agree with Stevo

The card looks homemade and thrown together

This will make the figures themselves look worse on store shelves

Even kids know lousy art when they see it.

These cards will make the line look like dollar store knock-offs.

Not sure if that is their intent -- I don't think so

Paul should be glad the EMCE logo is not on this.
Almost looks like Mattel wants this revival to fail. Crappy card and their first release is an exclusive.

They had a chance to really knock this out of the park with the packaging and they have failed miserably.

I think the cards look just fine. Simple and retro. Not over done like a lot of modern card art.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It looks as simple and retro as a velvet Elvis painting

These figures aren't for kids, they're for adult collectors. You think kids are gonna go to TRU and beg mom and dad to spend $20+ on an 8" superhero they've never even heard of?

That's also why you're seeing so much kvetching about the packaging.. who's a more picky and particular lot than adult toy collectors?

I'll be glad to pay 30 bucks for this thing. I was dropping nearly 40 bucks a figure for my daughter back in the day when Dr. Mego was selling "the repos" on his site. I think I paid off Dr. Mego's mortgage by now anyway.

                  Worth every penny!

The card looks more than a bit like the ones from CTVT. sort of cheap knockoffs of Mego's layouts.

I'm buying the line for the figs, not the cards...

But the big ? is: Why this shoddy design?

It's not going to entice kids into a cross-sale.

It doesn't seem to please die-hard Megoheads.

Wouldn't it be in Mattel's best interests to make it as spiffy as possible? It's not like they don't have vintage examples as style guides. They sure as heck made certain that MOTU looked nice...

What market are they aiming for? I dearly want this line to succeed & am curious...
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

                        Green Arrow Card

WOW. I think the packaging is absolutely perfect. It reminds me so clearly of the 70's and 80's when I buying the original Megos. At first I was a little disappointed about calling them Retro-Action but come to think of it, that works too. Great job and thanks for the tease with Batman of the card.

                          BINGO. VERY good question.
Would love to know the answer

Doesn't the fact that their premiere figure is an exclusive on a website catering to adult collectors give you an indication who their market is?

I can live with the art, but what's with that Mustard background color? By retro are they trying to match those old kitchen appliances that came in Mustard or Avacado?

It's a mass market retail toyline. The Mego collector, right now, is too niche of a market to solely aim it at us, in my opinion.

I see this line (as well as the EMCE Trek figures) as maybe a little of a Trojan horse, in a way, to get Mego figures into the hands of people and kids that don't already collect them. Non-Mego collectors buying them on the appeal of the license (Superheroes and Trek) and not just because they are Megos. But becoming Mego fans and collectors in the process.

                                That's my wild theory anyways.
