the pic of the card front and back are obviously proto right
as i would prefer to see a green backing card or even yellow with green detail not this orange looking colour ?
also are the cards going to be the emce type clamshell or will it be fully sealed like old mego style ?
they made pota and trek look retro... so why not these
will there be date and product info on the cards or on the clamshell casing ?
its an awsome job that its come this far but... after all this time i would have thought they would have got it right
if these items are directed at the collector, listen to the colector and give them what they want, within reason of course i know all the wrangle but folks are gutted, they will be buying these items then getting the likes of toy room to knock up repro backing cards and boxes to put them... whats that telling you
i suppose like any dictatorship.. you get what your given lol
anyhow, doc your the man thanks for all you doLast edited by toystalker; Dec 9, '09, 3:48 AM.Comment

Its pretty bland, and I don't get the inclusion of Batman on this card. Its sort of false advertising. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

But also isnt the side with green arrow, just the trade ad?Comment

If this is the final card I can't say I'm impressed, far from it really. I didn't think it would bother me, but it does.
A generic font for Green Arrow's name, too much open space on the back and a ****ty logo. Who came up with Retro Action? Crappy name. And the fact that they call them DC Superheroes makes it obvious there won't be Marvel figures, not now and not in the future. Unless they plan on changing the logo once Marvel joins up, but then I'd have to say they didn't spend much time thinking up a name for this line. Again, this looks like a cheap and hastely thrown together card. And exclusives are never a good idea IMO.
Frankly, I'm disappointed. I had high hopes, but I'm gonna wait now till the other figures are out to see if they'll improve the card cause I have no doubt they'll get a lot of bad feedback on this card design."...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

really disappointed with the packaging. For me its more important than the figure. Extremely frustrating when I think about what could have been. Like someone else said, it looks like it was thrown together in five minutes.

I love it!
On a somewhat related note, has anyone noticed all of the retro Fisher Price stuff? When I was casing Meijer for Brave & Bold figures, I came across a small section of it. The packaging reminds me of brown paper grocery sacks. My point? At least the Mattel cards aren't that bad.Last edited by EMCE Hammer; Dec 9, '09, 1:47 PM.Comment

I took another look again this morning to make sure I wasn't just tired last night and giving it unfair criticism...I wasn't. The use of negative space is just whacked out here. At the bottom half of the card you have what appears to be Sinestro and Green Lantern facing off against each other, which means the negative space is recognized and shared between the two. But at the top of the card, it becomes a simple collage where the negative space and placement of characters has no meaning. So there is no design sensibility to it whatsoever.
Now I realize that the people that designed this card are probably reading this thread and likely feel 'picked on' for the criticisms. But let's be honest here. Mattel is a considerably bigger company than EMCE or Castaway. And the idea that they can't produce better price points for a similar figure has already got me miffed at them. But the idea that you have to see the price jacked even higher by forcing collectors to buy exclusively from their site without the company putting any serious effort into the presentation of said figure tells me they cut corners at every turn. So what corners were cut with this figure? Is he going to fall apart like the old CTVT bodies? There's just too many questions right now about whether this is a serious attempt to make a quality figure like Emce and Castway have already proven. This whole "sneak peak" promotion is backfiring. If you have a quality figure to brag about, show it NOW and criticisms on the card will soften.Comment

^ I'm thinking all of that negative space at the bottom is for company logos, copyright info, and hazard warning....

We begged and begged for mego superheroes to someday return.....and my momma told me, beggers can't be choosers.
I take what we've been given with praise and thanks, regardless if the card sucks or not.Check out my website: Megozine Covers - HomeComment

I can understand the disappointment for some, but to me the card is made up of a collage (sp?) of clip art from DC's archives much like the card backs of the originals were a sampling of 70's era clip art. I never once thought Mattel would use alternating colors for the card backs as Mego did, this is a billion dollar company who has to appease a broad range of not only collectors but consumers as well. It appears the color scheme will fit closely with their other DC lines while still paying homage to the originals.
Maybe I'm sick, but I like it.Comment
