Why is this site any more believable than Wikipedia? One site is an open posting site with arguably inadequate credibilty checking, but still forces attribution of sources. The other is a private site that does not disclose authors or citations of any kind for the "data" they disclose. They do however disclose clear bias in their mission statement, which, in addition to lack of attribution, makes me trust this site even less than Wikipedia. Just because someone puts "Council" at the end of their title, and publishes on the Internet on their own website, doesn't engender any credibility. "It must be true because I read it online" makes even less sense than "It must be true because I read it on Wikipedia".I gotta go with Kryptomaster, Wikipedia is rarely recognized as a credible source due to their policy of open posting without credibility checks.
Here is a site with a bit more believability that states the USPS is wholly owned by the US Government and has never privatized. Although, the USPS does not accept funds from the Government; instead relying on sales like any civilian company would.

Back to EMCE - I'm buying three GAs, and damn the cost and shipping. Who's with me?Leave a comment:

Hey I'm with ya on the Wikipedia usually being correct thing. Now can you convince my professors of that, because they are not so easily persuaded. The lack of recognized credibility is generated from non-credentialing when it comes to the authors.
Doc's right, the post office folks are pretty cool. My postman has even fed my dog for me when I had to leave for a day. Amazingly Max (my retriever) likes the mailman.

Nah, didn't touch a nerve with me. You said some foolish stuff, I just presented the reality.
Quick name a service that on average everyone in the country uses every day... Got one? It's the USPS.
Quick... Name another.
There aren't any.
On another note and not to open up another can of worms, but Wikipedia on average is actually very rarely wrong. 9 out of 10 instances of Wikipedia being flat out wrong are acts of vandalism and are usually corrected within minutes. They did a study a while back and Wikipedia's batting average on correctness was at the same level as places like Encyclopedia Britannica.
For the most part Wikipedia just summarizes information from more credible sources.Last edited by ODBJBG; Dec 8, '09, 12:17 AM.Leave a comment:

Which is why beating up a postal worker is a federal offense.
Not that I have ever done so.
I love the post office - well, the Old Bethpage branch anyway.Leave a comment:

[QUOTE=geoffdude;426140]Actually as long as you don't use a USPS box, you can fit almost any 6-8 inch figure for that MOC, with packing peanuts. I do it all the time. Especially figures Mego size on card.
If you use the USPS box it's a bit more, but you're also paying for the box.
It all depends on what you're shipping though so it's all relative. Most of Matty's stuff ships in an inner box, which makes the smaller postage almost undoable.
For those curious, I just recently ordered 5 things from Matty and it cost $12.15 to ship it. For one thing it's usually around $8.50 for me. Hope that helps.Leave a comment:

The Post Office hasn't been a Government Entity since the 1970's and hasn't received Government money since the 1980's.Originally posted by kryptosmasterFunny. If UPS or Fed-Ex "lost millions" like the post office does they'd no longer be in business. Perhaps the post office should be taking lessons from these other companies?
That's "gub'ment" at work with our tax dollars! Let's give them more!!

[QUOTE=MIB41;426063]Or, that.
You just won't get a Mint on Card figure sent for that.

And for the record, Matty only uses UPS which is why it costs twice as much to ship and takes twice as long.
Ordered 4 packages that got here today. USPS packages arrived a noon, UPS packages got here at 4PM.Leave a comment:
