Or they're the second largest employeer of American jobs in the US behind only Walmart. They are one of the few jobs that offer good benefits to their employees as again, opposed to say Walmart. I'd love to know what your alternative to the USPS is? Thus far, no one has shown any ability to do anything anywhere near the job they do.

The USPS is one of the only Government agencies that is actually spelled out in the freaking constitution and had the backing of Benjamin Franklin. The USPS is the undoubtedly one of the most American institutions there is.

Personally I don't think the USPS should be self sufficient at all (Which they have been for years although in recent times have been operating at a loss) as they're as vital a part of the USA as anything else. Police and firefighters don't have to be self sufficient.

Most of the increased cost of the USPS comes from gas. For every penny the price of gas goes up, they have to spend several million dollars. They operate the largest civillian fleet of cars in the world. However massive security issues caused them to restructure even more to protect not only the millions of USPS employees but also you, the customer.

Despite all that, in most instances the USPS is one of the most reliable mail services in the world and without a doubt still the cheapest way to send a package in the US.

    Those are the facts.

That's "gub'ment" at work with our tax dollars! Let's give them more!!

Of course the USPS does about 5X the work that Fed Ex or UPS do. Trust me, you don't want to live in a world without a service as reliable as USPS. Not to mention that a lot of money lost came from having to improve safety testing so you don't get bombs or anthrax in the mail with your Megos.

    Small price to pay.

You can place a figure in a flat rate box from USPS with priority shipping for $4.95.

I get the feeling that some just don't ship things too much.

USPS, FedEx and UPS have all raised rates over the last year. Prices are up, up, up on all things these days. Average shipping prices for one toy figure, in the package, will run you about $8 bucks or so. Out of the package, maybe $5-$6 in one of those yellow padded envelopes.

*Keep in mind the USPS also lost millions over the last few years. So rates are likely to climb even more.

maybe a group purchase is in order

Standard prices these days I'm afraid. It's actually a pretty good deal compared against current prices for the smaller Marvel Legends, and 6" DC Universe Classics. The day of "Cheap" toys are long over.. except for store sales etc.
