Yeah, they went crazy for the 40th. I'm still sitting on a bunch of wooden footlockers. Hard to believe it's been that long.

I don't know, I saw quite a bit of figures from the new movie while looking online. But without a movie yeah, they probably won't be doing it now.

I would rather Marvel went with Figures Toy Co, or Cast A Way to do Marvel Megos. I would want them done right, instead of the half hearted attempt we got from Mattel/EMCE.

I was working at Hasbro when they were starting the Sigma 6 line, I had no idea they had made as many figures in that line as they did. I like the Sigma figures, they had some great accessories, but the sculpting of the figures is a little bit more exaggerated than I like.

As someone mentioned Hasbro DID go back to the 8" scale with the Sigma 6 GI JOES from 2006-2009 (or so). They churned out like 70-80 figures with tons of accessories, guns, cloth goods and even a couple of motorcycles and ATVS. You can find a nice checklist here: http://s6c.joebattlelines.com/toys_8inch.htm

FYI. I only collect Sigma 6 figures. I troll around here because I can use some Mego stuff with my Sigma 6 stuff.

I have lots of superjoes. Just have to spend some time and put them back together. And even then they won't be too handy.

Too bad the head snaps onto a peg on the body, otherwise I could easily use some mego or mego reproduction bodies.

From hasbro's point of view the superjoe line was a terrible failure. add in the lack of durability for collectors and there isn't much going for it. So was the later attempt at the 8 inch scale sigma six which is why both lines were abandoned adter 2 years. superjoe is the unloved stepchild of the Joe lines. The advetnure team lives on via the colletor club (they even created a 3 3/4 inch lin e of AT figures) and At the conventions and collector club the powerhouse in joe collecting is the real american hero line, the peak for classic 12" joe was really in the late 90's when the average age of those who were kids from 64-75 were about 35-40.
But there is a possibility of a nod to superjoe in next years 12" convention set based on the comic story included in this years convention set

I think Hasbro should have re-purposed the Super Joe stuff for the Marvel movies, especially Iron Man and Avengers. Imagine an 8" Mego style Iron Man with a light-up Power Armor (Super Joe vest) and different Weapons and accessory packs that plug into the vest and are powered just like the Super Joe line had. I could picture a Power Vest Captain America, Hawkeye or Nick Fury with the Helicopter pack accessory, Jet packs, Light up Weapon Attachments like Shoulder Cannons, all sorts of possibilities. They would seem pretty high-tech compared to most of the Action figures out there today, even though it's based on 30 year old designs. I'm actually in need of a Super Joe vest for my Iron Man custom I'm working on now.

Hasbro went pretty close to the Mego scale with the Sigma line, didnt, they? I didnt like the design but it would have been better if it hadnt been GI Joe. Hasbro does the new Marvel line of 3.75 figures as well. Both my Super Joe and Illuminous (spl?) figures stopped lighting up after the first day.

Who knows how different the action figure world would have become had Mego purchased the license and everyone started buying Mego Star Wars figures instead of the tiny Kenner versions? The boy toy isles changed in a blink of the eye with that film and has pretty much stayed that way ever since. Also keep in mind Hasbro tried venturing back into that scale with their own version of the WGSH. Except these were broken up into either all DC or all Marvel figures. And unfortunately they used Target as a retailer which was not a good idea. Target does not allow merchandise to find it's customers. Either it's hot out of the gate or they mark it down and get rid of it. So with two bad experiences already logged in their books, I don't see Hasbro venturing back anytime soon...unfortunately.
Target only had a few exclusives, the DC ones were at TRU, too. The marvel ones were at Walmart and TRU. I had no problem find any of the Target exclusive ones, and got the Punisher, Cyclops and Sandman on markdown.

George Lucas ruined my childhood. It's been 30+ years but I haven't given up on 1:9 SW figures.
