You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie Banks -
If it was me I would put a little black star on each side of the box (maybe in the corners)
It would be a nonintrusive but blatant way of telling everyone it's a repro from all angles.
I always considered unmarked repros counterfeits, not repros.
Just my opinionComment

Nothing is really necessary I suppose......not even this project....but I thought it would be a fun one to do.....been wanting to reproduce this shark for years now, just had to find the right guy to do it. But why not put our info on the bottom of the box?......Hot Toys usually gives credit to their artists even on the packages and I think it's a nice thing to do. It doesn't bother me any and I certainly don't mind giving credit to my friends that worked really hard to see this project to fruition. Besides, you'd only see it on the bottom of the box anyway.....at least that is where I'm wanting to put that info at the moment so as not to disturb the overall authenticity of the original box design.

I would not consider the work of Mike Rogers and Anthony Durso nor my friend Greg Jensen to be "counterfeits" as you suggest. No disrespect to any of these fine gentlemen as I have repro boxes from all of them and none of mine are marked as repros. But anyone with any modicum of knowledge can spot one right away.......I can tell by the printing and also by the cardboard backing. Plus these fine gentlemen are not trying to pass the work they do off as "original" mego boxes either. But that's just my two cents.
As it stands now, we are going to denote on the bottom of the box that this was a project created by myself and my friends as well as giving credit where credit is due for each person's part in this repro. I think that would be sufficient.......and let's not forget that the repro boxes will be pristine.......never seen a pristine original Aquaman VS The Great White Shark Box and insert unless you're talking about the one I had back in 1978 and that is long gone. :-(

Welcome Aboard Buddy!!!
Hey Buddy!!! Glad to see another "familiar face" round these parts!
For those of you who don't know yet......."dengar" AKA Greg Jensen is my friend and designer on the repro Aquaman VS The Great White Shark box and insert. He's doing a "fin-tastic" job so far and I couldn't be happier to have him on my "team".
There's more in store from us in the future so stay tuned as always.....more to follow soon and thanks for all the 'love and support', LOL!Last edited by reevefan78; Mar 5, '11, 7:50 PM.Comment

I asked Geoffdude for a pic of him next to his Aquaman VS The Great White Shark Box set and this is what he sent me......the W1 (Wolf #1) is an inside joke between him and me......never let it be said that Geoff doesn't have a great sense of humor! The set is not tiny and my repro Shark will be exact with minor adjustments so that it won't be passed off as original by anyone ever!

Take your time on your repro Aquashark with box, keep up update.

Poll - Two Questions regarding the offering of this set & Aquaman figure
Hello All,
I have two questions that I would like feedback on regarding the offering of this Repro Aquaman VS The Great White Shark Set.
1. Would you all be opposed to purchasing this set as separate pieces (Shark, box & Aquaman)? Since I live in Georgia, have one friend who lives in the central part of the US molding/casting/painting the sharks and another who lives in NY state working on the box art it seems a waste money and time to ship everything to me from my friends to assemble and ship back out to those who want to add this set to their collection when they can acquire these items directly from the producers themselves. I'm not a big fan of postal carriers of any kind as I have had many items damaged that are irreplaceable. So I don't like shipping things back and forth if it's not necessary. Plus acquiring these items directly will ensure that each collector receives these items faster (no middle man - me - to have to ship to first), less expensively (no need to pay for double shipping to me and from me and I don't have to waste time assembling and repackaging items to ship back out) and they'll be in the hands of postal carriers once and not twice thereby reducing the chance for damage by at least 50%. Make sense?
2. Would you all be opposed to including your own Aquaman in your set (either an original Mego Aquaman figure if you have one or the newer Retro Action DC/Mattel Aquaman figure)?
The whole point of this project was to find a way to reproduce the Shark and the box since these were the most difficult parts of this set to find. I'd prefer if everyone used their own resources to locate the Aquaman figure since he is the easiest part of this set to acquire. If I owned my own manufacturing plant in China and demand was high enough I'd consider doing a faithful reproduction of "the King of the Sea". But in reality it just isn't cost effective. I know that several collectors have complained about the bodies on the retro figures but you can always switch them out for Doc Mego bodies or an original Mego body if you have a spare.
Thanks everyone.....please let me know what you all think...but this seems to me to be the most logical plan to go with on this project.....SAVE TIME & SAVE MONEY BY ASSEMBLING YOURSELF BY BUYING DIRECT FROM THE MANUFACTURERS...."to put it in a nutshell".

both options sound great to me. I like the idea of a 'kit' as it were. My interest in this is for a standalone non-packaged shark, but I would enjoy a display with the box flat behind it, so that would work for me.

I guess that'll work for me. I just hope I don't screw things up trying to put my box together.Comment
