    DC License Not Renewed

I see that Paul has posted that Mego's Warner Bros. license has not been renewed. Will we get Wave 19 still if those are indeed already manufactured?

I dont think more DC figures will come out until they figure out funding. I read they loosed a financial partner and need to find other sources of financial baking.

I`m just sharing was was written on the Facebook group.

I hope they are able to release that last wave somehow.

I cannot accurately express here how much I was looking forward to Hawkman. I pined for that figure. And I hoped, but I can't imagine there's a chance now.

It would have been glorious to get Mego Hawkman, Black Lightning, and some Gals.

So for now, just the Disney sets I suppose.

Super disappointing, if not that surprising. For now at least, we have lost out again on another great looking Batman, with FTC showing a prototype only of The Outsiders Batman.

There were some other gems too, like Hawkman, and others I have stockpiled parts to make them ‘mine’, like Cyborg and Martian Manhunter.

Ah well. If it is over, it was a good run. Many replaced my (still very good) FTC versions on the shelf.

Saddened but not surprised. Add me to the list of those really wanting the Hawkman figure. I was even considering breaking my "only buy toys int he wild" rule to order that one. But the long gaps between announced figures and actually getting produced was not a good omen. The global markets did Mego no favors in getting things into production and to the markets, and not having brick and mortar retail outlets had to hurt them when it came to size of the production run and economy of scale.

In a weird way, for me personally, I appreciate now having formal confirmation of something that had been speculated about here for months now.

Reflecting back, candidly, I'm astounded that Mego 'rose from the dead' and released so many amazing 8" figures from so many varied licenses over the last 10+ years, including, I believe, almost all of the most prominent/succcessful licenses they had in their 1970s heyday. Completely amazing achievement. I'm very happy to've been along for the ride as a customer.

More concerning to me is the reference above to Mego maybe having lost a financial backer/investor.

Sad to hear, but again like others not surprised. NECA seems to have taken the ball and ran with it, to mixed results to my notion.

I`m not giving up on Mego yet.

Financial backers can be replaced so can licenses be renewed.

Toy business seems to be a very hard market. Neca being everywhere in Wallmart did not help Mego. The marvel line is a bright light in my mind, hopefully sales will convince Disney to go past the initial 5 sets previously announced and give us a full line of X-men and other desired long awaited figures. Hell, just with Spider-Man they could dish out 5 to 6 four packs alone. Hell certain lines had over 20 batman figures.

Yep that new Batman would have been amazing but you nerver know. As for Hawkman, I really dig the FTC version and am content with him for now.

Looking forward to more monsters and the upcoming Marvel sets and hopefully better news from Mego but its not over. Its just business.

Very disappointing to hear. But I echo Z-man on Wave 19: When they weren't released, it sounded like they were manufactured and possibly shipped, but tariffs were to blame for holding up their actually hitting the market. Is that the case, or were they never made other than the prototypes shown? I, too, am pining for that Hawkman and both the Aparo and Keaton Batmans (Batmen?).

I recieved Mego wave 18 from ZLC collectables April 19 2024. Mego had not released any more DC after that and now it's official . RIP Mego DC .
The pre orders were paying for the waves and no pre order wen't up for wave 19 or DC Supergals at ZLC , Amok Time etc.
50 th boxed Spectre , Martian Manhunter, Cyborg would have been nice along with Hawkman

Wow. Terribly disappointing. I had so much fun with that last DC wave and was ready to spend a lot of money on the next one ... And now it's just over. I guess it's extremely unlikely someone else will pick up the ball. Guess we can count ourselves lucky for getting what we did get e.g. that awesome Firestorm and Dr Fate from wave 18. I only hope we might get SOME good news concerning the Marvel deal. Does anyone know yet if those sets will continue after the initial 5?
