I guess we SHOULDN'T BE EXCITED about the new wave cuz: Let's see, we first had the semi-floppy sidekick body. Mego then gave us the no knee articulation body. Now we get the brittle body. 2 out 3 of the ones I opened, broke with a light pressure snap: I have a Deadman with a broken left leg and a Dr. Fate with a broken right arm. Luckily I DO have one Dr. Fate with no issues. I think Mego is no longer going to be getting my $$$. I had enuff!!!

That sucks. I thought it might just be the white body, but that Dr. Fate proves that theory wrong.
Be VERY careful when moving those joints on Wave 18 people, and make sure you know where the main bend is at in the arms and knees before attempting to bend. And sadly, that may not help either.Comment

What are you planning on doing about the defective figures? Can you return them to wherever you bought them from ? This is another reason that I will only be buying these if Amazon.ça gets them in stock so that that they can be returned hassle freeI guess we SHOULDN'T BE EXCITED about the new wave cuz: Let's see, we first had the semi-floppy sidekick body. I bought them from ZLC Collectibles. I don't think it's ZLC Collectibles' fault, Mego moved from the no knee articulation to giving us the Brittle Body syndrome.
I'm hoping Laser Mego can make an adapter, so I can transfer the head into a type S.
This new mego body reminds me of the original FTC bodies: cheap brittle plastic that breaks from a warm summer breeze.
I was so excited about getting an official Mego Dr. Fate, too.Comment

U r absolutely correct about the joints. I was extremely cautious to ensure I was attempting to articulate at the correct bend with gentle pressure to loosen the joints. It didn't help my Deadman and Dr. Fate :(. FYI. My Firestorm is ok...so I now have 50:50 ratio from the Brittle Body Mego Wave 18. I can no longer justify getting excited and purchasing anymore Mego. It seems every Wave brings its own unique issue. I wonder what issue Wave 19 generates. That sucks. I thought it might just be the white body, but that Dr. Fate proves that theory wrong.

Anyone knows how to connect these new mego heads into a Type S body? I didn't see anything from Lasermego site:(

Have you hit up White Elephant Toys and enquired about their Type-S adapter? If you remove the inner sleeve of the NuMego Dr. Fate head, it should then resemble the wider hole of the Previous style of NuMego head ( say Al Bundy for instance). Then, the White Elephant Adapters should work with a little boil and pop action. These adapters work great for the older heads
to transfer them to a Type S, and the only difference is the hole.
I haven't done anything with the new shrimpy bodies yet. I'm waiting on a NuMego Not Topps Ra's Al Ghul from Amazon. as soon as it gets here I'll give it ago and post the results.Customizing 1:9: My Videoblog journey of Customizing!

I know I've taken flack for saying this, but I've never broken a new Mego, although some were insanely stiff when I got them.
These things aren't made for kids anymore, but they should not break when you're posing them.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I was thinking of transferring my 50th anniversary Shazam to a type S body, but will the ctvt neck plugs work with the new mego heads? also if you transfer to a type S body, it wouldn’t be considered an actual 50th anniversary mego anymore, it would be a custom created 50th anniversary figure.Comment

I know this thread is getting off the rails a bit, but the CTVT neck plugs are a little different than the ones from White Elephant Toyz (WET). I think WET has two different ones with different designs at the top, but theirs have a tab right at the top of the second part from the bottom. It's nice because you can put the plug in a Type-S body and then not worry about it falling into the body. But if even the littlest things bother you, you will see that tab between the head and the body. I can be that guy sometimes, so it bothered me when visible.
But yes, I transferred the head of the Topps Green Arrow to a Type-S using one of the neck plugs. Wish I could have done the same to the variant Shazam figure, but that excellent costume is too small.
Okay, I guess we should continue this in the Customs forum...Comment

I don't know why you would take flack for never having broken a new Mego! I think that's great! Weird world we live in...
I do worry that even on the ones I got the joints to move, they are so stiff, that they may eventually be broken. Reminds me of Toy Biz Marvel Legends. I had to fix way too many broken limbs. At least Mego figures are easily swappable to another body, but I'd prefer not to go down that financial hole to fix a broken figure.Comment

Not the best picture, but...
FTC - WET - LaserMego
Neck Plugs.jpg
And corrections... first, I may have imagined WET making a plug like FTC with a tab. I am soooo sure they did and I used them, but I can't find them in my junky storage containers. Plus, they don't either version for sale separately right now. And two, my Topps Green Arrow conversion used a FTC Ollie head. Only the tunic, the boots, bow and quiver/belt combo made it over from the Mego figure.
I have converted a couple of FTC heads to the new Mego body though.
A tad back on topic, I haven't seen a need to convert any 50th figures to a Type-S because, knee issues aside, the height was fixed and I converted for the articulation of the Type-S, and the new Mego bodies have the bandless articulation too.
And completely on-topic, since I never answered the original question, getting a full wave of characters that I already own from another company dampened my excitement with this wave and kept me from freaking out. To be fair, every wave had brand new characters for Mego that were already made, some even before FTC, but they were heavy hitters in Green Lantern and The Flash. But there was something about the character selections of this wave that just felt odd. I get the Super Powers blah blah reasoning behind some of the choices, but Deadman doesn't fit that narrative and is a head scratcher for sure. At least they all mostly turned out nice. And the Villain choices make sense to me.
In the end, I am enjoying them more than I expected.Comment
