I think you have to have a reason for Jaba to keep her around instead of killing her outright like a true villain would, so she can be rescued and be there for the rest of the story.

I dunno.. I think there's a bit of harshness being expressed here. I thought it was brilliant that she was strong and quick enough to strangle her own captor with the very chain he enslaved her with. Skimpy suit or not, that was badass before Scarlett Johansson was even born

Seriously? I've seen more provocative clothing on regular tv, I've seen NFL cheerleaders wearing less,
why is it such a big deal? because it was called a slave outfit? if it had been called something else,
would we be having this conversation?

I was 12 when Jedi came out and had moved on to other interests but she was on the Topps Trading cards in that costume.Palitoy summed it up pretty well Disney is family focused and its their property now.

So if Disney is being all family friendly with this move will they retcon Annakin slaughtering all the young Jedi children in "Revenge of the Sith"?

I feel like this whole planet has fallen off the deep end over the course of the past year. People get "offended" when the wind changes directions and smacks them in the face. Maybe we got sucked into a multi-dimensional hole without realizing it and are now on Earth 2? Everything just seems very off...

I'm pretty sure they won't put that on a t shirt, which is all that is happening here with Leia.

Beyond the sex appeal, it's just good costume design. Very John Carter, old school sci fi. I believe it was Nilo Rodis-Jamero's design?

I wonder if the stink made over the Black Series 6 inch figure a few months ago was a catalyst for this?

it's all revisionist history and it makes me sick. they never called her a slave in the movie. that only came about for the action figures and such. they could have just as easily called her captive Leia. I really hope it is just rumor and not true at all.

Slave is an unfortunate term. It's better when the character is referred to as Jabba's Prisoner.

This is all Amy Schumer's fault.

Right. I mean, Chewbacca was Jabba's prisoner too... how come nobody makes a big deal about *his* metal bikini...

I am remembering Angelique Pettyjohn in Gamesters of Triskellion. Fisher wasn't even acting yet when that one was on.

Well---regardless of it's true or rumor---or if it's viewed as PC or not----I see wanting to do away with it (whether that's being considered or not) as a thievery of my youth... and not like the (what I see as "understandable") "General Lee/Confederate flag censor" issue where a huge sect of the population would view Leia's bikini as a "symbol of hate-fueled aggression towards a notably sized racial population"----it's more like the OPPOSITE of that.

no, it can be viewed as objectifying a notably sized gender population, tho. Not sure how that is the opposite.
