I think some of the issues with Hasbro lately seems to be the split between the standard line and the movie line, with transformers and GI Joe, it's like the last round of movie stuff didn't do as well as they liked so Joe isn't popular IMO, what happened to cool toys that were reasonably priced and were meant to be played with, I have to say I have a great fondness for the retro 4inch stuff it just reminds me of the toys I loved as a kid and when I started collecting again

    Blasphemer!

I'm talking about the big 12" flat figures they're doing. Still, the line is called "Transformers" that sets certain expectations about what the toy is going to be!

(If you haven't realized by now that I'm pretty much goofing here, I really don't know what to say. I think I quit taking things seriously around my second post.)

I'm just amazed that Mego had so many diverse licenses, yet a common scale and style so that they could all be played with or displayed together and still make sense, yet Hasbro's toy lines seem to be all over the place in terms of scale and style. It's to the point were there are Transformers toys that don't even transform, some are super detailed and others look like cheap knock-offs of there own line. When the GI Joe movie came out, the toy line completely lost any connection to what came before. I was in Toys R Us when some lady was looking for GI Joe toys like her boyfriend remembered, and the closest thing to what she wanted was the Generic TRU brand military stuff in the next aisle. Variety is good and all, but some consistency helps to bridge the gap from one line to another. Character selection is another issue, but it's hard to believe that the same company that wouldn't take a chance on 8" Mego style figures and canceled the Sigma 6 line is now throwing so much stuff out there that half of it will probably not find a solid consumer base.

    Indeed. Still, facts are facts.

I think you are right there seems to have gone way off the original post about Hasbro's distribution ideology

Never going to happen. Where am I going to find an Eminem head? The XMen lost me years ago. New characters that will have staying power need to not look trendy like the Quinin guy does. He will eventually be the butt of jokes about whatever era this ends up being called. The Teens?

^You my friend, will be the decider. When you make a Quentin Quire custom, only then will he be officially regarded as "classic".
