I've seen the Joes for big bucks at BBTS ....
I wanted a couple, and didn't understand where to even sign up for a Subscription at.Leave a comment:

Oh, Sorry. I lost track of this tread.
The subs for G.I.Joe and Transformers are through their respective collectors clubs, which also run the official conventions for each property. They've also done convention exclusive figures for years.
Some of the Joe sub figures are selling at BBTS for $70-80. This is for a figure that would sell for $8-10 if it was available at walmart.Leave a comment:

Agreed.
all the Smoke , mirror , sell outs, and BS Allure... Done.
Now ..., where does 1 even join that..., or try to buy figures on sale dates ?never joined one, and it galls me that there is one for G.I.Joe RAH.Leave a comment:

I hope this heralds the death of all action figure subscriptions clubs. I always hated the concept, never joined one, and it galls me that there is one for two of my favorite lines, Transformers and G.I.Joe RAH.
I will say I filled a few of the holes in my Classics Green Lantern Collection from Infinite Earths, but I ordered them from secondary sources.Leave a comment:

never saw $10 figures on matty collector. not once. and i've spent big$$$ with them including subs. i guarantee if they had those figures up there for $10 , they would have sold out all their existing inventory, surplus inventory , customer service inventory and whatever else inventory name they can come up with.
Heaven forbid Matty Gave Subscription Members and People on the Site an Oppertunity to Purchase Cheaper Figures 1st Considering they Gave them Thousands upon Thousands of Dollars paying for Everything Full Price Supporting thier Clubs to Begin with.Leave a comment:

I would "only" be interested in:
1) Silver Age Teen Titans Aqualad
2) Silver Age Teen Titans Speedy (Red & Yellow with hat - Not the super ugly Red Arrow)
***Plus they made the Dick Grayson Robin & Red Arrow (meant to be Speedy) in regular size while they left Kid Flash in teen size. Same with the more modern titans where Nightwing and Cyborg are regular size while Beast Boy is teen size. Would have loved to see them standardized to either size but that's not going to happen...***
3) JLA Aquaman with "hook"
4) Accurate Tim Drake Robin in its original red & green costume. Not just a repaint of their red & black Tim Drake Robin like the one in the Walmart Two-Pack. That cape is totally wrong! Plus, would be a good chance for a better non-smirking head sculpt...
5) Super Powers Batmobile
6) Nightwing & Flame Bird Two-Pack
Done!Last edited by Boywonder0; Aug 25, '13, 8:03 AM.Leave a comment:

^Good point. Had they clearanced them out in their own store, I think the ill will felt would have subsided a bit.

By far, this was and will be the most extensive and far reaching line of dc figures that people will ever see. The wish lists I see here are really off the radar for most people, so a sub seems like the only way to see them. Masters of the universe seems to be headed down the same road, but the difference is that those people have no avenue for other forms of their characters because there's no dc direct and the property just isn't the same caliber as dc.Leave a comment:

I think ALL the subs would have benefited from a full year's list of what they were going to offer, announced at the same time the sub was opened. Showing 4 figures and saying "trust us" doesn't really work for me, and probably many others. In the recent audio interview on AFI, Toy Guru mentioned how long the figures took in development. If that's the case, they should know which characters are in the pipeline at the beginning of each year. Had they shared that, I think many fans would be less apprehensive on spending their money with them.

I don't remember seeing Mattel's sales numbers for the last several waves of DCUC, but I do remember seeing them collecting dust and getting clearanced out around here. If I was Mattel and that's the feedback I was getting from retail (along with decreasing orders I suspect), I'd probably do what they did - relaunch with A-listers from current media to boost sales with moms and kids, and try to find other avenues to keep the smaller target market (collectors) happy. :/ Still didn't get me my Mera unfortunately...but I'm glad my eyes never have to be subjected to the horror of Injustice designs on the shelves again. Just IMHO.I'm so Tired of people using that sentence Chris.
With Respect.
It's like the Almightly God Speach. ... " You guys better be, ... cuz, or Else" .
Man ..., Get Outta Here.
Bottom Line it ...
52 and Injustice Crappy Designs Killed these.
**** Poor Marketing ... DC sales no way can be what they were prior to this nonsense.Leave a comment:

Kinda bewilders me when I see collectors blaming Mattel for the DC sub failure. With only the farthest corners of the DCU untouched by DCUC/DCCU/DCCIE, Classics was going to run out of steam eventually, not to mention the fact that 6" figures are all but extinct at retail. Matty was the best possible outlet to continue those figures ( tho even collector-targeted figures like Super Powers Penguin in the Unlimited line clogged pegs), and even then there are only so many who will pony up $30 a pop for C and D-list characters and variants. Sure there are still characters *I* want, but not many who would make me commit to DCCIE in 2014, and I suspect most others felt the same judging by the numbers. Character selection in CIE is arguable sure, but at the end of the day it really was only a matter of time before the cost was going to outweigh the desire/numbers. I'm content in having DCUC - the most expansive and consistent line of DC comics action figures ever, along with the filler CIE gave us, as well as the knowledge that what has been shown for 2014 will most likely make it out somehow (bi-monthly, quarterly, presale, con exclusives).
Blaming them for using the sub model? I may not prefer that method myself as a customer, but I can understand its advantages from a business standpoint. Mattel is foremost a business and the Matty arm of that business unfortunately isn't equipped for the overstock just because I want my Mera. They also want the highest number of guaranteed sales for the most amount of different characters, hence the blind sub model - there just arent strong enough characters left to support that. Again, It doesn't work for everybody, and isnt my preference personally, but unfortunately the alternatives don't work for retail or Matty anymore.
It does suck however that some are still suspicious of how or why a surplus of underperforming second-run MOTUC figures which Matty couldn't get rid of online (including a blowout sale) ended up at Big Lots despite being announced in advance as wholesaled out to free up valuable warehouse space...and the fact that this really has nothing to do with day-of-sale price or CIE, tho it would certainly look suspicious to the uninformed. Not the best timing, I'll give ya that.
But yeah, not the end of DC 6", just DC 6" as we've known it I'm sure.Leave a comment:
