What did folks think of these most recent TNG 12" figures? One hopes that if they do well enough, TOS might follow?
I'm not sure they did so hot. I heard somewhere they flopped, but that might be bad info. Personally, I would have bought some DML figures if they were TOS, because I never got into TNG. I don't have a gripe with it or anything, just watched a few episodes and apart from the "Unification" episodes, it didn't seem to be for me.
Like I said, I'd buy DML TOS figures, but I'd prefer Hot Toys, even if they cost more.
There seems to be an overabundance of Bruce variants. I think the biggest reason is that enter bay released their even more high end Bruce figures. Also Bruce bootleg parts and accessories seemed to be everywhere when i was in HK last.
And you are absolutely right... The primary market For Hot Toys are collectors in Asia, where unfortunately Star Trek TOS has a really low profile. If it's going to get done, it's in a western companies hands.. Like Sideshow or DST.
These seem to be the cheapest ones, I'm guessing they over produced them...I'll get one eventually

That doesn't mean they've done it well. I'm sure you remember the Trek figures from the new movie. I want to see HT do a Chris Pine Kirk, a Zackry Quinto Spock, Karl Urban McCoy, etc...
I'd love to see HT do a classic Kirk, Spock and McCoy, followed by a Picard, Data and Riker, personally...
and let's face it every company and their mother's have done star Trek at one point

My question would be this: if they'll produce a high quality figure of Bruce Lee in a 3-piece, why oh why would they not want to reap the benefits of producing almost museum quality figures of Kirk, Spock and McCoy (and eventually other TREK characters, too!). Perhaps licensing costs on the TREK universe are too high...?
that and the fact that these are produced in China and Bruce being Chinese makes sense...I'm sure they did really well there

If it's a limited run of say 3000 figures maybe they'll do well...if they over produce them they'll just never sell like most Trek stuff does....I'd at least buy Kirk & Spock
