In regards to SpaceBalls, I recently read an interview with Mel Brooks (in toyfare of all places) where he said he couldnt merchandise the movie due to an agreement with Lucasfilm, in exchange for the right to use Star Wars as the basis for the films storyline. He did mention that he could always approach George Lucas about Lucasfilm handling the merchandising though?

In the case of Rocketeer, I was told some time ago by friends of mine in the comic biz who knew Dave Stevens quite well, that it was very difficult to merchandise anything for this film. Disney produced it, and as such had the licensing rights for film merchandise. For toys, they had a right of first refusal deal with Mattel at the time, and apparently Mattel tied it up for too long, trying to make up their minds. End result was it was too late to shop it around to anyone else who could make figures in time for the films release. Obviously, whomever made the bendie (Lakeside?) decided they had time and had their figures on the pegs in time for the release. Sadly the film did poorly, meaning nobody would have any interest in doing figures after.
Mr. Stevens wanted toys...and much more. Ended up with a crummy deal for the film rights, and not much else to show for it.
Perhaps, its time to revisit the property, film and merchandising wise?

I would like to see nicely made 3 3/4" Star Trek figures and playsets for the Star Trek 2-6 era of films. I still feel cheated that we never got these, except for the crappy Ertl line.

Not so much a set as a handheld (gimmick) tin type toy. Sort of like the stuff you get at fast food places nowadays, except metal instead of plastic.

That's still pretty neat...I've never seen one. Who produced that?

Gus over at the Star Wars Archive owns the figures from the Space Balls movie, the actual props used in the film I mean. Will have a look for a pic...

                    That would have been awesome.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yeah, Blade Runner would be cool.
And if possible, in an affordable format, not those mega-expensive rare ones.
I don't belive these to be bootlegs, just limited-run Japanese imports.

I have seen a lot of people in this thread "bashing" the mezco underworld figures, personally I liked them the cofin that came with victor was cool, they were quiet well made reasonable price and a bit of a diorama and went nicely scale wise with the first two waves of mcfarlanes monsters and the spawn movie playsets, and I was wondering what you didn't like about them, off topic slightly I know but just peaked my curiosity

well that would have been a good way for mego to reuse cb mcall and chips molds anyway

I rmember my buddies Sister had to sneak us in to see at the drive in. Dont recall if it was due to the rating, or because she was cheap?

I guess it did inspire CB MCHaul, so it kinda had an unofficial toy line.
I thought CB was inspired by CONVOY
