    I hear ya ScottA,

I am sure I have paid the scalpers fee already in gas in my hunts for these figures. But... It is more fun to secure in the wild.

Posted this to the GI Joe board earlier today, it fit here too:

Went to two local WalMarts yesterday looking for complete sets so I can buy some with that cool blue tray thing they are shipped in. Each store had at least 50 45th Joes but they didn't know where they were in the store. The toy person in one store promised to save me some when she had help unloading pallets today. (I only knew this because I forced them to search in their computer system- managers were telling me they had none- because they didn't want to look for them, the computers told the truth however).

So (most likely) every store probably has them, they just don't know or are too lazy to look (or both). This is why taking the SKUs with you and forcing them to look them up in the computer at customer service (at least one SKU number, since they ship together) is the only route to take in your search. At one store this process took a good 20 minutes and I had to tell the person how to operate their computer and look the item up (even though I had no knowledge of their system- though it was easy to figure out).

      Sean

Print this and take it with you:

GI Joe 12 inch figures (four) and accessory cards (four)
45th Anniversary Wal Mart exclusive (not seasonal, not a sale item)

      Figures:
      065356936394: Soldier
      065356936395: Sailor
      065356936396: Pilot
      065356936397: Marine

      Accessory Sets:
      065356936317: Soldier Snow Troops
      065356936318: Sailor Frogman
      065356936319: Pilot Survival
      065356936320: Marine Dress Parade

        Hiya Sean,

I tried that as well. Only thing I got was one toy dept manager saying he had them in his system and he would look into the stack of pallets. Called back and one of the stockers said something like "oh, you're that guy. We've been looking all day for those and never found them." I checked back at that store a week later and there was still nothing. Crazy.

          BANG!

Finally found a shop with these things in 'em. They were all nice and tidy minus one Dress Marine outfit. But no display for this store. When I asked if they still had the packing materials, the stocker frowned at me and told me they had tossed them.
          Rats.

Anybody got access to one of the display racks?

Also wondering if anybody wants to trade figures or outfits for the earlier AT release? I picked up a couple of extras. Some for my son, and some are in limbo.

              Hiya aaaaa,

These are GREAT repro retro. They feel good. They hold poses. The textiles are good. An awesome deal at $10. I wonder what that translates to in 1964 money? A dollar? They are obviously not the original JOE, but they are so much better than the modern bodies. I cannot understand why Hasbro uses that meat fisted thing they do. Ah well, times change.

If'n you happen across some of those abandoned displays, I would love to have a couple. I want to put all my Joe stuff in those and they look pretty simple/cool from the photos I have seen.

              have a good time

^^^ I have yet to see the display box. All the ones I found are just stacked on shelves. Scored a Action Marine yesterday.

A couple days ago I saw three accessory packs laying out next to the new gi joe stuff (down the aisle a bit actually). Not displayed at all, just layed on the shelf like they didn't know where to put them. I bought all three of those.

I asked the toy dept guy if he had any more and he said they had just put those out the night before and that's all they had. Didn't make much sense that they would put out three but what do I know.

Today I cruised through and sure enough on the bottom shelf kind of tucked away were one each of the retro figures so I snagged them.

I'm not sure if my Wal-Mart just isn't getting many this year or if there is another toy fiend out there. Last year I could snag the other retro figs almost at will between the two Wally worlds in proximity to my house. This year its tougher. Maybe Christmas? Dunno.

I have seen priced mid to later 60's boxed ones with the origonal stickers that are any were from $3-$5, these were quite expensive figures for back in the day. The outfits were almost as expensive when not on sale or discounted.

I almost bought the land adventure until I saw he came with a lugar pistol instead of the 38 pistol that the one I got back in the mid 70's.

Those were last year's Wal Mart Joes- they had just figures from Adventure team era. This year it's the painted head era. It's just 4 figures from each service and 4 sets from the 40th Anniversary line, but sold separately, slightly altered box art.

Actually, since the WMATs were KFG they shoulda had the rifle...but heck.

At least it wasn't the transition figures I once saw. They were in the Joe box with white short sleeve shirts, shoulder hoister, the round army cap, green pants. I believe that came out right before the Adventure Team

The adventures of Gijoe (1969 white t shirt and black sweater sailor) are among the rarest of all USA joes except for the Sears excl airborne MP's and the Nurse
